NOT CURRENTLY ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS

As a Marriage and Family Therapist I work with adult individuals, with couples, children and youth, and families at every stage of life. After going through medical school and training as a pediatrician, I spent some time as a full time parent and then, following my lifelong passion for understanding the human mind, I switched careers, and now work full time as a therapist, helping people make the most of their lives and relationships.

I have discovered that no matter how well resourced and supported we may be, times of transition, new challenges, work or school stress, financial concerns, loss, health issues, and just the everyday ups and downs of life can all contribute to temporary or longer periods of difficulties in coping..

We all have internal wisdom and strength, and sometimes we just need a supportive and safe place where we can gain the clarity that we need to find the path forward. At other times, the challenges are greater, but with warm, compassionate and experienced therapeutic support, the remarkable resilience of the human spirit becomes apparent. Having worked with trauma survivors of all ages from a diversity of backgrounds, I have been humbled and inspired by the power of relationship in healing and helping individuals and families move from surviving to thriving.

Having been a single parent, and now partnering in a blended family with five children in their teens and early twenties, I am acutely aware of the challenges that individuals, couples and families face on a daily basis. I understand the challenge of navigating the complex and competing demands of work and personal life and how helpful it can be sometimes to get an outside perspective and some guidance.

Individuals often seek therapeutic support to deal with issues related to anxiety, depression, anger, grief, loss, or change. As a Marriage and Family therapist, I am uniquely trained to see individual issues from a relational perspective, and I bring that expertise to helping individuals understand not only their internal process but also the broader context for their issues. I work collaboratively with individuals to help them make sense of their situation, and to find a way forward.

Couples, regardless of what stage of of partnership they are in - newly together, making decisions on commitment, in long term relationships, or facing the possibility of separation or divorce - often benefit greatly from having a safe space and experienced guidance as they discuss issues of concern. In my work with couples I provide couples with the tools that they need to get to the root of problems, to solve longstanding conflicts, and to optimise their relationship. When appropriate, I help couples make decisions regarding whether to continue or to end a relationship, provide support and guidance for couples who are going through a separation process, and help couples co-parent successfully.

As a parent, it can be difficult to know what to do when a child or teen struggles or when there is family conflict. I work collaboratively with parents and guardians to find effective solutions to family issues, and I have extensive experience in helping children and teens overcome difficulties. I work with children and youth individually, or with one or more family members, depending on age and circumstances.

Whether you are an adult seeking individual or couple therapy, or are a parent or guardian looking for help for a child or young person, you are welcome to call and ask questions about the therapy process and I will do what I can to help you. It is important to find the right fit in a therapeutic relationship, and we can decide together whether my approach is the best one for you.
