I help bring you away from speeding ahead, back to yourself. The type of therapy most often used for treating anxiety is cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Many studies have shown it is effective. CBT works by retraining how people think through exposure. For example, a therapist might instruct a person who is anxious about leaving their house to go on short errands. As the person in therapy becomes more comfortable, they might leave their house for longer amounts of time. Eventually, they may feel more comfortable doing so. Although CBT is used most often, many forms of therapy are well-suited to work on anxiety. Therapy does not only treat symptoms of anxiety as medication does. Instead, it addresses the source of the anxiety.

Are you feeling overwhelmed? Anxiety can stem from an actual or perceived threat to your well-being, when internal resources are viewed as inadequate to cope. It can have a paralyzing affect or promote anxious activity to avoid uncomfortable feelings and/or thoughts of feared outcomes. As you learn how past and present experiences contribute to anxious thoughts, and begin to identify personal strengths and new coping techniques, you will begin to experience less anxiety, and increase self-esteem.

The bible tells us "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own" - Matthew 6:34. Using these biblical truths I help the client find better ways to deal with the stresses and anxiety they face in life. Anxiety usually stems from the desire to control situations, I help the client discover ways to let go of that control and realize God is in control. "But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body." Phil 3:20-21.

A common phrase in society is "I am stressed out". Stress can lead to anxiety. Counselling can help you deal with what you are stressed about and how your stress is causing anxiety. The bases for anxiety is fear, not having a reference point. We don't feel grounded and that is scary. The harder we work or the harder we try only seems to add to the stress and anxiety. Counselling can help you slow down, become grounded and regain your reference point.

Anxiety stress burnout etc., is a lot of a mess It takes over our thinking it literally makes the brain larger, and it can refocus our lives. In therapy we identify the different elements of the anxiety, identify the sources or learned behavior. we also acknowledge how you have copped in the past. By no means is this a treatment. the recovery comes in acknowledging the feelings and refocusing your thinking so you can move ahead. A difficult journey yet one with many rewards.
