Who We Are
We are a unique group of therapists with a common vision: to meet the needs of families impacted by mental illness and addictions. We recognize that mental illness often has a 'ripple effect' on families, creating tension, uncertainty, troubled emotions and big changes in how people live their lives. Different family members are likely to be affected in different ways. Relationships change, roles change, misunderstanding and conflict within the family is common.

Read more…our story:
The Story Isn’t Over Inc. was founded by Trish McLean in 2019. Trish is a Registered Psychotherapist, who has survived living with mental illness, negotiating family breakdown resulting from mental illness, and parenting a child with significant mental illness. It comes out of a personal experience and awareness of how far mental illness impacts our whole lives, our relationships with our partners, with our kids, and with our circle of friends – and our work lives. It comes out of a chronic battle to access appropriate services for herself and others, whether it is a psychiatrist to clarify a diagnosis, and manage medications, or specialized psychotherapists who can provide ongoing psychotherapy, or simply to connect with other people who understand what it is like to live with mental illness.
The Story Isn’t Over’s vision is to create a team of therapists, and a community of caregivers, who can give hope to those who have long since lost hope, who have given up hope that anything will get any better, that they, or the ones they love will be well, and that their broken relationships will ever be restored. Our logo is the semi-colon (;). The semi-colon symbolizes the decision to carry on living despite struggling with mental illness. It has become a symbol of hope; declaring that that the difficulties we face are not the end, but a new beginning. It’s not just a semi-colon; it’s hope, it’s inspiration, it’s who we are. Our hope is that you will find hope, and that you will discover a light in the darkness, and that, although it may only be a dimly lit candle to begin with, will grow into a beautiful flame that will open up new paths in you and for you.
Take a look at our team, read their own stories, their particular training and experience, and call us. If you are unsure who you’d like to talk to we can help you find a good fit. If you feel you don’t get a good fit with the first therapist you see, that’s okay, it can happen, just let us know and we’ll book you with someone else. We have a dedicated and trained staff member to take your call and answer your questions in office hours, and if you don’t get through to them, you can leave a message and they’ll get back to you right away.
