I offer therapy for women for a variety of needs including career counseling.

Who benefits from career counselling? You might be a student looking for direction or a person considering a career change. You may also be looking to delve deep and assess your talents, skills, interests, personality or learning style. Learning more about who you are and how you want to spend the next decades of your life are all considerations in career counselling. Assessment tools can be very helpful in making informed career choices and developing a personalized career path but are best utilized along with an experienced counsellor. Psychotherapeutic tools such as EFT and Mindfulness Based approaches can provide depths of understanding one's self.

Career Counseling is about change. Whether you are changing a career position, seeking a new field, or a student changing a major, the core of career counseling is preparation and the understanding of your goals and how they affect your life as a whole. In my practice, I do not use assessments or aptitude tests, as I believe the client is the best source of information. Together we will review your education, interests, work history and the reasons to make a change at this time in your life. Additionally, we will evaluate your level of risk taking, relationships and approaches to pursue a new career path. My style is comprehensive and tailored to you to help your reach your career goals.

Knowing how you come across inter-personally can be a huge asset in advancing your career. Are you soft? Are you a yes-man? Do you come across as angry or controlling? Are there "communication skills" that stop you from getting that promotion? If so, we can use our relationship to explore how you come across. I can provide you honest and direct feedback that others are too uncomfortable to tell you. We can come up with a game-plan concerning how to come across the way you want to. It could involve merely practicing and being aware of how you come across and it could involve longer term therapy that gives you an enhanced sense of self so you come across with more confidence naturally.

Life is short. Going to a job everyday that you hate is a good way to waste it. Knowing what job is right for you is not easy. You really need to look at who you are and what you want from life. Getting to know who you are, and not who your parents, spouse, or children think you are is one of life's most difficult challenges. What I love doing most is helping people discover who they really are. But, once you know who you are and what you want to do, you also need to develop a reasonable transition plan to get from here to there. This takes a grounded and realistic approach in additon to liberating your creative juices. Being both a visionary and an engineer, I can help you master both.

A wise person once told me, "Find something you love to do and find someone to pay you to do it." But the reality is that many people find themselves in careers they don't enjoy or lose the career they did enjoy. Whether you are disatisfied with your career, dealing with work related stress, or wondering what you are going to do next, counseling can provide a framework for you to work through the dissonance in your work life and get on the path of meaningful fulfillment with regards to your work or career, regardless of what stage in your life you are at.

Then you can start exploring the available opportunities that will make you feel successful and fulfilled in your future career.
