I officially began working as a psychologist in 2007; however, several years prior I worked as a counsellor assisting individuals, couples, and families in a general counselling context with various issues including: depression, anxiety, life transitions, addiction, and trauma. At present, my practice involves work with the same generalized area, with a specialization in assisting individuals with concerns related to anxiety/depression as the result of either developmental or acute trauma. Trauma being defined as experiences in life that overwhelm the nervous system and impact a person's ability to function in daily life. This can involve discussion and the use of various techniques/strategies that can include body processes through the use of Integrated Body Psychotherapy (IBP).
Recently, I have undertaken skills development toward learning and practicing the Somatic Experiencing method. This provides a technique to assist client in developing his/her ability to regulate their own nervous system and as a result, enhance happiness - a valuable outcome. Further, I am working toward certification as an Integrative Body Psychotherapist (IBP). Meaning - I am increasing my skill set to assist clients in resolving trauma from the past, as well as acute trauma from the present.
In order to better assist clients, I am offering day, evening, and Saturday session times. Please contact me with any questions. I welcome the opportunity to discuss your concerns and learn if my services could assist.
