Our struggle with finding a fulfilling and practical career in our lives is often related to how we feel about ourselves. Our self-esteem is connected to our roles in life, career being a central role. Our self-worth is connected to how we value ourselves simply because we exist. We need to find a balance between self-esteem and self-worth in order to make the big choices in life like our career. In my practice we work from the ground up where the client explores who they are, how they have adapted to please others, and what they want for themselves in life. We pair that deeper work with practical ways clients can find a career that matches who they are from a grounded and confident place.

As a result, helping a person transition from one career to another is important for some individuals. There are many factors to consider when providing counsel in making career changes. Decisions must take into consideration a client's home life responsibilities, culture, age, personality style, preferences, demographics and financial responsibilities. I thoroughly enjoy working with young adult clients on assisting them in beginning their career journey. I also work with adult clients who are in the beginning stages of making career changes including going back to school. I know how scary "change" can be especially when it has financial implications. Career Counselling with me begins with developing rapport and relationships. We move at a pace you are comfortable with and examine the variables involved in decision-making. I support clients throughout the change process.
