I am honoured that you are interested in my services and I would like to tell you a little bit about myself. I have been described as slightly non-conventional in the counselling world, which suits me perfectly, and also tends to suit youth who are trying to stand up to the force of the problems in their life. I am very comfortable working with this population, and I feel fortunate that I can connect with teens the way I do, conventionally or in a way that makes sense to them.

Our careers are one of the outward expressions of who we are. They are an important statement of self. Sometimes we become stale in our chosen professions. Sometimes we need a whole new venue. Our career counselling work together will explore who you are as a unique person, who you really want to be, as an expression of self. It may involve the deepest question: What brings me Joy?

Maybe as a child you dreamed about having a great life of abundance and achieve greatness. At that age, you were a winner and you would stand up and defend your dreams against any challenges. Unfortunately, lots of people may lose some of that winning spirit growing up and the champion in you may have slowly dimed. Maybe you do set goals and you do have an idea of what your purpose and direction in life is. This simply is not enough for you to experience the abundance in life that you deserve. You have all the potential to radically make a difference! It is already deep inside of you and waiting to be used. Together, we will work toward using that amazing potential.

Whether you feel frustrated, are disillusioned, or your circumstances force you, you will benefit greatly from discovering what you would love to do? Do your feelings make sense to you? Are you realistic about what you can do and what it would take to change that? Are you aware of your limitations and talents? Do you know the job market? A systematic review of all or some of those questions forms the basis of a realistic action plan to make a change. I believe you need to identify the crucial questions first, then answer each question in turn. To get clear on what needs to be done and how to go about it may take time and considerable effort, but can be done and always pays in the end.

My approach to career counselling is relational, practical, and attuned to each client’s unique story. I blend thoughtful, strengths-based exploration with gentle guidance that helps people clarify what energizes them, what environments help them thrive, and what patterns may be holding them back. Clients benefit from a supportive space where they can be honest about their uncertainties, experiment with new possibilities, and craft clear, actionable steps. Together, we build a path forward that aligns with your values, personality, and evolving sense of identity—so work feels not only sustainable, but meaningful.

While most career counselors love to give you capacity based profiles of what your talents and interests are for your best bet career choices, Grey Matters international believes that most people make predictably irrational decisions and then after making them learn way to make them fit into their identities using various types of rationalizations and strategies. I guide clients through a process of recalling a number of moments in their lives when they were satisfied and pleased with the outcomes of their actions. From this we can deduce a career path that will allow the client to express their greatest assets. Sometimes a person may be out of synch with their current work environment but otherwise on the right track.

For example, working away from home may bring extra income but also problems that make you need to review decisions and priorities. You may be experiencing burn out or a feeling of being overwhelmed and may need to look at some strategies to manage and balance your life better.
