I am a Christian Counsellor that will work to thoughtfully include your relationship with God in the healing process. I work with clients who want to grow emotionally and spiritually, within a safe and clinically grounded environment. I combine evidence-based therapeutic approaches with a Christ-centered lens, because I believe that psychological healing and spiritual formation are deeply interconnected processes. While having faith does not replace the work of processing grief, anger, or trauma, it does provide the foundation and framework for freedom and lasting change.

Angela is an experienced therapist who provides a Christian counselling perspective to explore a variety of issues that may be affecting you, your marriage or your family. Her training and experience support individuals with a wide variety of issues related to grief & loss, marital discord, family violence/conflict, depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, parent-child relationships, life transitions, addictions, anger management and self-care. I am a Christian counsellor born, raised and practicing in the Christian faith. The laws of Love taught in the Bible are as relevant today as they were when the Bible was written. Jesus left us with His example and a set of principles, to guide us through the trials that we face in our current lives. Although the form and conditions of our lives now have changed, this guidance helps us to navigate through the challenges of the current day. My practice of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) includes an openness to The Holy Spirit to guide our process. Sue Johnson's book "Created For Connection" shows how EFT can help couples repair their marital relationship in the context of Christianity.

When clients specifically request our counselling sessions to have a Christian focus I am able to integrate scriptual teaching & Christian counselling research within the broader field of psychotherapy assessment & treatment. When I take a Christian approach I find that therapy works towards alleviating psychological stressors while helping people to appropriate a deeper understanding & appreciation of the grace of God.

The Christian lens I provide is based on the principles of speaking the truth in love, laying aside all masks & pretence and being congruent. By providing empathy, comfort, education, conviction, encouragement through a gentle process forged by listening and building trust, I offer a safe environment for people to release emotional pain. I can apply biblical principles to spur change in people’s hearts. This process is facilitated through personal responsibility while harnessing the brain's ability to heal whether by combining insights from social sciences, strengthening neural connections with brain training via Neurofeedback or processing barriers due to emotionally charged memories with EMDR.

While most Christian Counselors pride themselves on how many Scriptural passages they can recite and how many links they can make from the Bible to psychological disorders, the Christian-centric work of Grey Matters International, Inc.is grounded in one principle: truth.
