When working with depression, I use a combination of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), talk therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) when working with adults and teens and play therapy when working with children. If there is a clinical depression diagnosis, Neurofeedback or consulting a doctor about medication options may also be recommended as a part of the treatment process.

Depression effects how a child and teen feels, thinks and acts. Some common symptoms may be: * low- self esteem * irritability and anger * difficulties with relationships * sensitive to failure * crying more than usual and fearful I would like to help your child/ teen discover where the depression is coming from and provide your child/teen with the strategies and tools to reduce the intense feelings of hopelessness and loneliness.

Depression may show up in a variety of different ways for you; you may notice that you are feeling deeply sad, lonely, and alone. You may also be noticing that you are lacking in energy, inspiration, and motivation. Depression or overwhelming feelings of sadness and despair are often clues that something deeper is going on within your psyche and within your body. More often than not there is a reason for your depression, even when you are not consciously aware of it. Your body doesn't speak in words, the way your mind does, rather it communicates with you through your feelings, sensations, and emotions. Often ignoring your emotions can intensify your feelings of depression.
