While anger sometimes gets a bad rap, it actually holds an important place in our health and wellbeing. However, when anger is experienced too frequently, too intensely, or is activated too easily, it can quickly become a destructive force in a person's life. Our task is to understand the anger you're experiencing and find ways to effectively regulate it so that anger does not take an overactive role in your life.

Anger, unlike other emotions, can give us a sense of power and strength. It can protect us from feeling more vulnerable emotions such as hurt, sadness, guilt, and shame. Anger can also take us down a path that destroys relationships with others, including intimate partner violence (IPV), and cause us to feel regret and remorse. This may even result legal issues, such as a restraining order or criminal charges. With counselling, you can learn to understand how the brain functions when upset and manage how you experience emotions, including anger, and not let it get away from you.
