My approach to anger management first teaches clients to become expert observers of themselves their triggers, risks and "buttons". Once this is done, strategies are developed to mitigate risk and experiment with alternate, healthy forms of expressing rage. Anger can be profoundly healing and revealing, as well as destructive. Sometimes deeper reprocessing work is necessary if the source of anger is extreme or rooted in early life, or marked by great suffering, humiliation, disgust or injustice. If impulse control is a concern, practical safety agreements in addition to DBT and affect regulation strategies can be imparted. Couples can learn ways to allow safe and healthy anger expression

Anger is a normal and healthy emotion and we all get angry from time to time. However, when anger turns destructive and/or self-destructive and brings problems into your personal and professional life, you need to seek support to learn how to manage your anger better. In the process, you will learn how to relieve the symptoms and recognize the signs of anger, increase your confidence and self esteem level, enjoy stronger and healthier relationships with your loved ones and coworkers, learn how to express yourself and your emotions with confidence and without anger, and live more balanced life both mentally and emotionally.

Anger can feel overwhelming, unpredictable, or difficult to control. It often masks deeper emotions like hurt, fear, or powerlessness. If anger is straining your relationships or impacting your wellbeing, we can work together to explore its root causes, understand what it’s trying to communicate, and develop healthier, more constructive ways to manage and express intense emotions.

Anger can feel like an emotional experience that we have no control over. In therapy, you can explore the root causes of anger and how it impacts your life, your experiences, and your relationships. You can learn skills to effectively respond to anger, ground yourself when feeling angry, and de-escalate when anger is impacting your relationships. I work with individuals, couples and families. Anger is probably the most misunderstood of all emotions. Anger is a primary energy arising from the biological imperative for survival and self defence. This energy gets twisted and mangled as we grow up in a society where anger is often expressed violently or completely held back and hidden. We rarely learn healthy and satisfying means to express this natural and powerful force. I don't believe anger should be managed as much as to relieve the history of inhibition through mind body connection, awakening of frozen defensive responses in a safe and mutually respectful environment and teaching the body to return to an optimum state for healthy defence and self-advocating as necessary.

Anger, frustration, rage, and reactivity overall, can make a person feel frustrated and powerless; when we have emotional outbursts of any kind they can feel so all-encompassing and make us feel like we are not in control of feelings, thoughts, and behaviours. In working with clients on their emotions I aim to primarily promote an understanding of why our emotional outbursts occur; once this has been established we begin to work on how to manage, mitigate, or change how these outbursts occur, or why we feel the way that we feel in the first place.
