I provide a calm, supportive space where clients can explore the triggers and patterns behind their anxiety. I help clients understand the physiological and emotional components of anxiety and equip them with practical tools to manage stress in healthier ways. Through personalized strategies such as mindfulness, relaxation techniques, and cognitive restructuring, clients will learn to reduce anxious thoughts and build resilience. My approach empowers clients to regain control over their lives, experience greater peace, and develop lasting coping mechanisms for future stressors.

External stressors cause internal reactions as a survival mechanism. Fight, flight, freeze! being tense and constantly hypervigilant is exhausting and often leads to the development of fatigue and generally unhelpful habits (working too much, drinking too much, eating too much, using anger to obtain what we and then feeling guilty & ashamed). Learning to relax, have fun and enjoy life on its own terms is critical. To help people accomplish this task, I start with providing education about what happens physiologically when we are under stress. Then, I teach CBT based strategies including confronting unhelpful thought patterns, exposure and connecting with and processing difficult emotions.

Fear is a situational-based, positive emotion that prepares us for a sudden and unexpected external event. Since fear is such a common emotion, its presence can often go from being connected to a specific experience (a baby crying, a car horn blowing) to something omnipresent and an overwhelming sense of anxiousness. Anxiety can cause us to feel shame, guilt, and worry because we do not believe we can stand up to the concerns that have brought it into our lives. Psychotherapy is a safe place to explore the causes of shame, guilt, worry, and anxiety. If you are ready to unpack your worry bag, I am here to help! Schedule a free 15-minute consultation to see if we are a good fit.

Do you feel overwhelmed? Does anxiety and worry prevent you from living the way you would like? Counselling can give you a safe space to freely communicate and process your emotions. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is the most popular therapy for anxiety disorders. It has been shown to be highly effective in helping people with both generalized and social anxiety.

Anxiety is our body’s way of getting us ready for action, getting us ready to fight or flee in a given situation which, while helpful in keeping us alive, can be very unhelpful when it negatively impacts our ability to live our daily lives.
