Although my practice of psychotherapy is based on empirically validated therapeutic modalities, as a Jew I have a deep religious belief and practice. I believe that religion and the bible wisdom can bring deep hope, peacefulness and meaning to our lives and relationships. Having aspirational role models can strengthen our belief in what is possible for us and our lives. I respect each person's choice to live their life according to what you believe is right for you.

As a Christian therapist, I feel it always important to work with my client’s faith and value system. Since I am counseling as a person with Christian beliefs, it is not my plan to impose my values on my clients, but to help them in their journey. Since I am a Christian, my frame of reference would be led by the spirit of God. It is my hope to guide individuals towards a stronger relationship with God and with others. I am familiar with the Jewish community, and able to provide counselling that is sensitive to the needs of Orthodox, Conservative and other Jews. I understand traditions such as the holidays, Kashrut, and the Sabbath. For many of us faith is not just important it is critical. As a professional therapist, I work with all kinds of faiths, with respect and honor. However I do identify and enjoy working within the context of Christianity. Over the last twenty-five years I have worked closely with believers, congregations, denominations and their leaders through individual, marriage and family issues but also issues of faith. Some times we struggle with our faith and it becomes more of a stumbling block. Other times it becomes our anchor. Central to my faith as a Christian is my understanding of God’s abundant grace and His capacity to redeem any circumstance for our benefit and His glory, even when we are not yet able to see any of that in the midst of our suffering. I view my role of therapist to be that of a vessel of God’s grace with the sacred role of helping clients towards growth and healing through the circumstances they face. I would describe myself as a Christian who does counselling. The reason why I have found this description helpful is that is not based on the fact that I have grown up in church, and have been a Christian since I was 11 years old. Instead, I find this description is helpful as clients who are Christians have sought me out, as they know I will understand many church based difficulties of which they have experienced. I have seen pastor’s wives, church leadership, and their members because of this. However, there also is the understanding that those who are not Christian also are welcome to see me, that I am readily available to listen to them, too.
