Are negative thoughts about your body affecting your mood or self-esteem? Do you find yourself obsessing over food, calories, or exercise?  Are you concerned about your eating patterns? Or,

Does it seem like your mind is constantly preoccupied with worry?  Is overwhelming stress or anxiety preventing you from participating in life the way you would like to?

You are definitely not alone.

Hi!  I’m Cassandra, and I am a registered social worker and psychotherapist with over 21 years of experience helping individuals to overcome the mental health challenges that are interfering in their lives; with specialization in the treatment of eating disorders/disordered eating and related concerns including body image, anxiety and depression.

Therapy is a valuable investment in your wellbeing, and choosing a therapist can sometimes be a challenging and overwhelming experience.  You want to find someone who will listen without judgment and truly understand what you are going through, and someone who can help you to overcome the problems that are holding you back.  Offering a safe and compassionate space, and bringing a broad spectrum of knowledge and skills to the therapeutic relationship, I am able to individualize the treatment approach to your specific needs.

Services I Provide:
  • Individual Counselling for youth (ages 13+) and adults
  • Parent/Caregiver Counselling and Support
  • Family-Based Treatment (for eating disorders)
  • Professional Consultation

I draw from a variety of treatment modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), Narrative Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.

How I can Help:

Your goals are unique to your individual needs and situation.  Outcomes we can work together towards might include:
  • Strengthening your readiness for, and commitment to change
  • Stabilizing your nutrition
  • Learning new ways to manage difficult emotions
  • Getting unstuck from overly negative, intrusive thoughts
  • Interrupting unhealthy behaviour patterns
  • Improving your self-esteem
  • Gaining the knowledge and skills needed to be a supportive and active participant in your loved ones' recovery
  • Creating space for joy, and for re-engaging in the life you want to live

Together we will work to help you get 'untangled' from the thoughts and behaviours that are keeping you stuck - so that you can see your worth, show up for what matters most to you, and approach life with more confidence.

Cost: I offer a free initial 15 min phone consultation to find out if we would be a fit to work together. Standard sessions are charged at a rate of $165 for 55 minutes.  The first session is typically 60-75 min in length (no extra charge).
Fees can be paid via e-transfer or credit card.  I provide a receipt at the end of session that you can submit to your insurance company.

Location:

I run a virtual practice (Nourishing Change Psychotherapy), offering counselling sessions for residents of Ontario via a secure video platform that you can access from the comfort of your own home.
