Let's Talk and See If I'm a Good Fit for You

Hi Ladies!

The Pink Couch Psychotherapy is open and ready to provide women 40+ with a comfortable, safe space to help you through many life issues and to pave the way to wholehearted living. Janice is dedicated to approaching you with compassion, understanding, support and collaboration.

The Pink Couch is OPEN for business! It is no secret that navigating through life in today's world is at best a challenge. For many of us, it can be unbearable at times. I hear you. The good news is you don't have to go through it alone. Having a therapist who truly listens and strives to understand at a deep level can be life-changing.  At The Pink Couch Psychotherapy, we create treatment plans and goals together so you can be sure they are tailored to your individual issues, needs and goals

My specialty is helping women 40+ through their individual heroine's journey. In other words, I help women deal with the challenges of life, including but not limited to depression, anxiety, grief, loss, trauma, disordered eating, and weight issues on the road to transforming pain and fear into a guiding wisdom toward self-awareness, emotional growth and a more fulfilling life.

As therapists, we often get caught up in the theory and process of counselling and forget that often the best experience we can offer clients is to listen. Being heard and having one's life witnessed, or a part thereof, can be incredibly healing. Whether you are dealing with issues that require a lot of unpacking or you just need to talk it out, I'm here to help.

Janice uses these therapies with clients

ü Talk Therapy. Simply talking to a therapist often gets a bad rap. However, not every client wants to work through specific exercises or do extra work between sessions.

ü Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT). ACT is based on the overall goal of being able to live a rich and fulfilling life, despite the barrage of negative thoughts, feelings and emotions that make us human. In other words, developing and practicing psychological flexibility through opening up, being present and doing what matters.

ü Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). DBT is a modified type of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Its main goals are to teach people how to live in the moment, develop healthy ways to cope with stress, regulate their emotions, and improve their relationships with others.

ü Positive Psychotherapy (PP). PP doesn’t mean one goes around being positive and using positive affirmations all the time – although for some that can help. PP Counseling uses strength-based therapy which focuses on a client’s internal strengths, resourcefulness, and not as much on weaknesses, deficits, or failures.

ü I am continually learning new therapies and upgrading my knowledge and skills.
