Having a biblically based approach is what sets Christian counselling apart. It is centered around the belief that God works closely with us in our life and wants to set us free from all that hinders us by leading us into the Truth. Usually by discussing our thoughts with someone we can determine whether what we are believing is the truth or lies. Freedom comes when we know what the Bible says about who we are. Who does He say we are? By using a guideline of truth from God’s Word it allows us to understand what is true and what is not. As children of God it is important for us to know our identity based off what God says about us. Placing our hope in God is a sure foundation. Anxieties fade

The Bible provides insight and guiding principles for abundant living; it contains answers to the toughest life issues. God’s desire is for us to live life to the full. Jesus became human flesh and walked this earth for 33 years. He understands our day-to-day struggles. He was despised, rejected, and suffered the most humiliated death. But, Jesus conquered death. He now lives in us through the Holy Spirit. God’s love for human is immense. He cares for you and me. As a Christian counselor, I seek support from the Holy Spirit, pray for and with my clients, and apply Godly principles to guide the healing process. In God, all things are possible. You will experience love, joy and peace again.

Nancy Wall, M.A. Counselling Psychology

Therapist

I believe that God is the ultimate healer. He does not want us to live in bondage, but rather wants people to live life fully and abundantly. I love people and consider it a privilege to walk along side them through their struggles and empower them to become all that God created them to be. My goal is to help people overcome issues and develop strategies to reach their maximum potential through Spirit-led counselling. I provide a caring, accepting and nurturing environment in which I help people develop tools to overcome the situations they are facing now, and give them the ability to apply these tools to other situations that arise in the future.

B.Sc. (Hons) Psych, RP, CSAT, Cert LC

1295 North Service Rd., Burlington, ON L7R 4M2

To me, the greatest part of being a Christian is being Christ-like, meaning, looking at each and every individual as a worthwhile human being, created for a purpose. When people stop believing in themselves, I like to help them get back on track and feel good about themselves. I’ve successfully worked with disadvantaged kids, the elderly, troubled teens, ashamed individuals, and couples feeling hopeless. I see my clients through the Lord’s eyes, as precious and valuable, and I do my best to help them look at themselves that way. I strongly believe in divine forgiveness and lack of judgment, which allows people in the darkest places to forgive themselves and have hope for a better future.

For many of us faith is not just important it is critical. As a professional therapist, I work with all kinds of faiths, with respect and honor. However I do identify and enjoy working within the context of Christianity. Over the last twenty-five years I have worked closely with believers, congregations, denominations and their leaders through individual, marriage and family issues but also issues of faith. Some times we struggle with our faith and it becomes more of a stumbling block. Other times it becomes our anchor. Having Christ as the center of history and ones life allows for resources that significantly bolster therapy.

As a follower of Christ, and a credentialed minister, I believe in the power of scripture to transform lives. I also believe that faith is a powerful tool than should be used for good, and applied in the proper way. I also understand that truth can be found both in scripture and in the writings of many very wise individuals. God has granted us the gift of wise counsel to understand ourselves more fully, and the purposes of our creator. I look forward to working with you to explore how the scripture may be responsibly used to help you gain the insight and spiritual freedom that you are seeking.

Within a Biblical framework, counselling becomes an even richer process. A Biblical base simply means that the therapist believes that all human beings were created in the image of God, intended for relationship and designed with the capacity for growth and change. Forgiveness, personal empowerment, learning to love self and other are critical parts of the process. Jesus said "I came to heal the broken hearted" and at some point, most of us would love to sink into that compassionate offer. Biblical based counselling does not infer any judgement or inflexibility within the therapeutic process.

My greatest joy over 30 years has been helping people of faith, both Jews and Christians, grow in their relationship with God while negotiating the painful experiences and choices of life. Sometimes it is even our religious community which has been the source of those painful experiences. I believe we often have difficulty seeing who He truly is because of those experiences and choices, both ours and others’. Sometimes we are struggling with how to keep a faith perspective when our prayers seem unanswered.
