My passion is to help people. As a social worker I care about people and their experiences of suffering in the face of trauma, stress and mental/emotional turmoil. Helping to navigate through those difficult times is a privilege that I find to be both rewarding and humbling. My goal is to use my skills and knowledge to help you find healing and to strengthen your relationships. I chose to focus on counseling because I believe change begins with individuals and families and impacts the wider society. I chose the Master of Divinity counseling program because I believe that faith is an important part of the journey of life.

This is how I will partner and work with you:
* I will intentionally listen to understand what you are concerned about, desire to cope with or change. You are the expert with information about your life and I will learn from you.
* You will be provided with a place where you can feel safe and supported. I will accept you without judging you, and will work to build a relationship of trust.
* Together we will explore what has brought you to counseling, and potential solutions, so that you can accept, heal and/or change as needed.
* I will be respectful of your cultural, religious and personal beliefs and values.

Whether your issue is related to mental health, family relationships, loss and grief, coping with work or social situations, or a combination of issues, I can support you in your journey of  healing and growth.
The systems approach I use recognizes that you are influenced by the environment you are exposed to including family, work, social, religious or special interest groups. You also make important contributions to the environments you engage with. You affect and are affected by these groups as you interact with them. The art of my work is helping people to see themselves in a different way, understand how they contribute to and impact the situation at hand, and empower them to move forward in a way that will increase their ability to manage their circumstances and improve their relationships

For over 25 years I have worked in several areas including Social Services, Child Protection and as a volunteer in the community. Currently I work as an Employee Assistance (EAP) counselor and in private practice. This exposure brings me into helping relationships with people from a variety of different backgrounds and various stages of life as they cope with challenging situations.

I am a registered Social Worker and Clinical Counselor with a Master of  Divinity (M.Div.) degree. As a professional I draw from a variety of  theoretical frameworks so that my services can meet the unique and individual needs of the people I work with.
