Simon always noted the changing of the seasons from autumn to winter with dismay, but last year he became so despondent that he decided to look in to counselling Red Deer psychotherapy to help him understand why his mood altered as winter descended.  He discovered that he was subject to suffering from seasonal affective disorder, a type of temporary depression that coincided with the winter months.  Through Simon’s psychologist Red Deer, counselling helped determined that he exhibited many symptoms of SAD: he slept almost constantly, and his usual suave exterior was replaced by an unkempt, slightly overweight facade.  The knowledge that his condition was not uncommon (it affects about five percent of the North American population, most of whom live in Northern climates) lifted his spirits and inspired him to research SAD.  He was able to work through his counselling Red Deer therapist to alleviate the symptoms of his disorder and diminish its ability to adversely affect his life.
