At some point, the ladder you've been climbing starts to feel like it might be leaning against the wrong wall. Not always. But sometimes. Career and life transitions counselling isn't really about resumes or five year plans. It's about figuring out whether the life you've built still fits the person you're becoming. You might feel restless without a clear reason, or successful by most measures but quietly unsatisfied. That's a bigger question than it looks. We work through values, direction, and what you're actually willing to trade. Most clients find the career question was never really about the career.

Career counselling may involve exploring career direction and it may also involve dealing with issues that occur in one's working life, such as those in the workplace. When exploring a career path, the client's whole self needs to be taken into consideration, including one's history and dreams (waking and sleeping.) Of particular importance is one's "inner voice" which may be calling one in a particular direction. Work situations often open up old wounds and therefore often provide an opportunity for healing and transformation.

I am a certified Birkman Method professional. The Birkman is an internationally-recognized test that helps to identify your needs, your patterns of negative behaviour, and your way forward in life. By using the Birkman, I can help you develop your own user manual and roadmap for your life, relationships, and career. The Birkman is a powerful tool that can help you discover what will really feed you in your work and relationships.

Career counselling has progressed away from computer generated test scores and more along the lines of inquiry to individual likes and tendencies. This is the approach I adopt. Together we complete a Career Development Workbook, uncovering inclinations and passions using talking and connection to self and others as our tools. Once up to 3 career choices have been made, a referral to Workplace BC is often helpful for the next steps in market and career research for your choices.

Having worked in the finance industry for many years, I help clients remove their blocks, create clarity and help with work towards their career(dream job). My treatment involves having the client work on: financial plan that includes their goals. We go through obstacles and mental blocks; and their fears of success. Clients feel motivated, they learn how to build resources, change their negative beliefs to positive, and learn new skills to communicate effective.

Our struggle with finding a fulfilling and practical career in our lives is often related to how we feel about ourselves. Our self-esteem is connected to our roles in life, career being a central role. Our self-worth is connected to how we value ourselves simply because we exist. We need to find a balance between self-esteem and self-worth in order to make the big choices in life like our career. In my practice we work from the ground up where the client explores who they are, how they have adapted to please others, and what they want for themselves in life. We pair that deeper work with practical ways clients can find a career that matches who they are from a grounded and confident place.

In order to assist students through this process, I offer a variety of careers focused on personality, talent, degree and dedication. I did a lot of information research on this and I matched successfully. Many of my previous clients were happy for my advice. I serve my clients to get a good solution. I also discuss my clients' career questions to experts in the field. I offer resources to assist to get a better future.
