Career counselling is an integral part of life experiences. With the rapid change in technology and other societal advancements, people are changing careers more now than ever. As a result, helping a person transition from one career to another is important for some individuals. There are many factors to consider when providing counsel in making career changes. Decisions must take into consideration a client's home life responsibilities, culture, age, personality style, preferences, demographics and financial responsibilities. Family counselling may also prove fruitful.

I truly believe that choosing one single career path can be one of the more difficult decisions we have to make in life. At times it may feel like there is immense societal and cultural pressure to choose a specific career path, but at the end of the day, I am curious to explore what it is you value, free from outside judgements. Different people prioritize different factors when choosing a career, and it is important for me to help identify what your priorities are. From there we can brainstorm potential avenues and build motivation to help bring those thoughts into reality. It is often action that creates motivation, not the other way around.

Career counselling with me involves an exploration of your strengths, and experiences. Together we will make sense of your journey and find the words to begin your plans for next steps. In therapy as you experience a non-judgmental, secure relationship you can orient yourself and experience a sense of confidence and assurance to move forward. Through locating where you are in the process of change and untangle the elements that are keeping you from moving towards a life of purpose and passion.

Career is more than a job to make money and pay the bills. Our careers give us a sense of meaning and purpose , help us have a sense of belonging and contribution in society, and provide us with a sense of security, achievement and progress through life. Career counselling helps you get in touch with what you value in a career and how you can choose a career or transition between careers in a way that is in line with your authentic self.

Having worked in the finance industry for many years, I help clients remove their blocks, create clarity and help with work towards their career(dream job). My treatment involves having the client work on: financial plan that includes their goals. We go through obstacles and mental blocks; and their fears of success. Clients feel motivated, they learn how to build resources, change their negative beliefs to positive, and learn new skills to communicate effective.

With dual training as a Registered Clinical Counsellor and Vocational Rehabilitation Consultant, I specialize in helping individuals navigate emotional barriers and re-engage in meaningful life activities, including a successful return to work. I have supported numerous clients in making informed decisions and navigating career transitions using standardized assessments and comprehensive information gathering—empowering them to achieve success and fulfillment in their employment journeys.

I thoroughly enjoy working with young adult clients on assisting them in beginning their career journey. I also work with adult clients who are in the beginning stages of making career changes including going back to school. I know how scary "change" can be especially when it has financial implications. Career Counselling with me begins with developing rapport and relationships. We move at a pace you are comfortable with and examine the variables involved in decision-making. I support clients throughout the change process.

Career counselling has progressed away from computer generated test scores and more along the lines of inquiry to individual likes and tendencies. This is the approach I adopt. Together we complete a Career Development Workbook, uncovering inclinations and passions using talking and connection to self and others as our tools. Once up to 3 career choices have been made, a referral to Workplace BC is often helpful for the next steps in market and career research for your choices.
