Careers play a huge role in a person's life and can become a source of conflict if the person is unhappy with their chosen path, co-workers/boss, position, income, growth, and/or required efforts/hours. I help clients navigate their personal career struggles to find solutions to their turmoil. For some that looks like finding a better suited career while for others it can be communication strategies to help them resolve the issues at their current employment. Whatever the case, we develop a clear plan to resolve the career issue at hand.

Career is more than a job to make money and pay the bills. Our careers give us a sense of meaning and purpose , help us have a sense of belonging and contribution in society, and provide us with a sense of security, achievement and progress through life. Career counselling helps you get in touch with what you value in a career and how you can choose a career or transition between careers in a way that is in line with your authentic self.

Career counselling has progressed away from computer generated test scores and more along the lines of inquiry to individual likes and tendencies. This is the approach I adopt. Together we complete a Career Development Workbook, uncovering inclinations and passions using talking and connection to self and others as our tools. Once up to 3 career choices have been made, a referral to Workplace BC is often helpful for the next steps in market and career research for your choices.

We apply Design Thinking to reframe obstacles to opportunities in creative ways that may be impossible to imagine now. Then we design plans to give you the inspiration and practical experiences that prove what career decision will bring you the greatest happiness, fulfillment, and reward.
