Career counselling may involve exploring career direction and it may also involve dealing with issues that occur in one's working life, such as those in the workplace. When exploring a career path, the client's whole self needs to be taken into consideration, including one's history and dreams (waking and sleeping.) Of particular importance is one's "inner voice" which may be calling one in a particular direction. Work situations often open up old wounds and therefore often provide an opportunity for healing and transformation.

We utilize motivational interviewing and value worksheets as tools to provide comprehensive support to clients who are navigating career choices. Our skilled counselors utilize this technique to facilitate conversations that empower clients to identify their personal values, goals, and motivations. By exploring their intrinsic motivations and clarifying their career aspirations, clients gain insight into their priorities and desires, enabling them to make informed and meaningful decisions.

As a result, helping a person transition from one career to another is important for some individuals. There are many factors to consider when providing counsel in making career changes. Decisions must take into consideration a client's home life responsibilities, culture, age, personality style, preferences, demographics and financial responsibilities. Family counselling may also prove fruitful.
