Together we'll look at what's really behind your dissatisfaction or indecision, including the desires and pressures you may not have fully acknowledged, so that any change you make comes from clarity rather than panic.

Career Counseling is about change. Whether you are changing a career position, seeking a new field, or a student changing a major, the core of career counseling is preparation and the understanding of your goals and how they affect your life as a whole. In my practice, I do not use assessments or aptitude tests, as I believe the client is the best source of information. Together we will review your education, interests, work history and the reasons to make a change at this time in your life. Additionally, we will evaluate your level of risk taking, relationships and approaches to pursue a new career path. My style is comprehensive and tailored to you to help your reach your career goals.

A large component of career choice is how we view ourselves and what we feel we can accomplish. So there's a big element of identity in there. I use Positive Psychology tools to assess the individual's strengths of character and what they view as important tools for success that they already have in their arsenal. From that perspective, we also look at those character strengths that could use a little further strengthening in order to best serve the individual reach their goals. Dreaming and imagining are big pieces of this process, so we also explore those in depth. I encourage realistic dreaming and identify fears and doubts that getting the way of dreaming and accomplishing dreams.

Starting a career for the first time, or making a change to your career down the line can both feel daunting. One might find themselves with lots of questions and uncertainty with no clear direction of where to turn. I help people work through the stress and worries that accompany any type of career transition. Together we will collaborate on a stable plan of action, and uncover additional resources that may be beneficial to you in taking the next steps on your path to success.
