Earning a living is a major part of our lives; ideally it should be fulfilling as well as providing for material needs. If you are unhappy in your work life, there are many approaches and choices that can radically improve it. Sometimes it is a matter of altering attitude and motivation so that you exude energy not resignation. Transitioning to a new position of responsibility can call for flexibility in modifying work habits, and handling interpersonal relationships. Engineering a career change is more possible than most of us realize, but there are intimidating challenges. Recognizing when one is in a dead end is occasionally necessary; especially if you've invested years of effort.

I don't do formal career counseling, but enjoy counseling entrepreneurs, business men and women, and performing artists. We would help you develop better assertiveness skills, clarify direction, improve motivation, encourage and guide you in negotiating higher salaries and rates, and cope with job/career crisis and change. I have worked with many people who lost their jobs in the current economic downturn. I also have a specialty working with performing artists to help them find satisfying jobs that allow them to pursue their art, and work with them on stage fright, creative blocks, and balancing relationship/work.

I see careers as extensions of who we are as people. If you are trying to decide whether it’s time to make a change, or need guidance on better determining your next career steps, I offer support and provide a safe place for you to do that. I love helping clients evaluate their interests, skills, and abilities, and then walking through the development of realistic goals. Work can be something fun, something to look forward to, or it can be a burden to deal with. Through work, an individual can experience a sense of work engagement (vigor, dedication, and absorption). Additionally, individuals can experience burnout, which can cause them to hate their job. Individuals spend most of their waking hours working; it is important to find meaning and satisfaction in one's work. I have spent numerous years helping individuals with their careers, not only decide on choosing a career path that is meaningful to them but also to help them find meaning and satisfaction in their existing jobs.
