Although I am a Christian, I do not practice prayer-based counselling, instead my approach is mainly clinical, and positve-based.

To me, the greatest part of being a Christian is being Christ-like, meaning, looking at each and every individual as a worthwhile human being, created for a purpose. When people stop believing in themselves, I like to help them get back on track and feel good about themselves. I’ve successfully worked with disadvantaged kids, the elderly, troubled teens, ashamed individuals, and couples feeling hopeless. I see my clients through the Lord’s eyes, as precious and valuable, and I do my best to help them look at themselves that way. I strongly believe in divine forgiveness and lack of judgment, which allows people in the darkest places to forgive themselves and have hope for a better future.

Many years ago while I asked God for a career path, He hired me to work in His counselling profession. I received my integrated training (God's word/Psychology) at Trinity Western University. Since, I have been privileged to work hand-in-hand with God helping people heal their emotional/spiritual wounds, hurtful and often dehydrated relationships. If God hadn't invited me into His counselling profession, I would not be a counsellor today. The best counselling outcomes are accomplished through God's leading, intervention, empowerment and healing. God guides the sessions with His truth, wisdom and love. I love my job. Daily, I thank God for letting me be part of His great commission.

Within a Biblical framework, counselling becomes an even richer process. A Biblical base simply means that the therapist believes that all human beings were created in the image of God, intended for relationship and designed with the capacity for growth and change. Forgiveness, personal empowerment, learning to love self and other are critical parts of the process. Jesus said "I came to heal the broken hearted" and at some point, most of us would love to sink into that compassionate offer. Biblical based counselling does not infer any judgement or inflexibility within the therapeutic process.

I also am someone whose personal faith shapes and drives my vocation as a Psychotherapist and Couples Therapist. As someone who identifies as a Christian, I have the ability to utilize principles of the Christian faith when working with clients who also resonate with this religious background.
