Marriage and Couples Mental Health in Milton

As one of the fastest growing communities in Ontario, nearly 58% of the nearly 90,000 population is married and over 10% of the married couples in the region admit to seeking out counseling services as a form of relationship management.2 More than 60% of the city's married couples are employed full time, and under such circumstances, many couples feel a growing communication gap between them. Issues of income, financial struggle and co-parenting can create barriers between a couple and partners often resort to focusing more on their jobs to escape from the issue.

For women seeking personal therapy to deal with marital issues, the Halton Women's Centre is a non profit organization that serves women's needs ranging from sexual assault therapy to individual couples counseling.3 They also run year round workshops that train women to empower themselves and deal with marital issues with strength and courage. Legal advice is also offered to couples going through divorce and separation.

Family Services and Assistance Programs

Halton Family Services helps nearly 3000 citizens a year through their family problems and life issues.4 Their team of professional counselors is located mainly in Oakville, but residents of Milton can reap the benefits full time. Halton Family Services provide facilities to see people through issues such as anxiety, grief, marital problems, family issues, sexual abuse, spirituality, conflict resolution and much more. Children and men can also undergo individual therapy for a range of mental health issues, as well as sitting through family sessions.
