Oakville is mostly made up of Northern European ethnicity with around 165,000 residents; however, is becoming more and more diverse due to its proximity to Toronto.  The age population in Oakville is younger than in other cities in the Greater Toronto Area.  The religious makeup of Oakville consists of around 80% stating themselves as Christian and the rest non-Christian religions or no religion at all. Christian marriage counselling helps couples to sort out the purpose of religion and faith in their life.  Sports in Oakville have a long history, with part of its history including the only professional sports team, the Oakville Blue Devils, a professional soccer team.  They are affiliated with the Oakville Soccer club which the largest club in Canada.  Oakville does have a professional women’s ice hockey team and the largest rugby club in Canada, the Oakville Crusaders.  There is also a Tier II junior ice hockey team and a AAA hockey team, the Oakville Rangers.  Other sports teams operated throughout Oakville include a lacrosse team, aquatic club and golf.1

Oakville is governed by a town council that consists of a mayor and twelve councilors, with the town being divided into six different wards.  This is at the municipal level.  The Provincial and Federal levels of the government in Oakville, consists of two provincial ridings for both.
