Client centred support at your own pace. Building client/counsellor rapport and working with clients where they are at is essential for a safe, comfortable and positive experience. My online service means you can feel safe and comfortable, while accessing confidential support and working towards positive growth and achieving your goals.
I am a registered social worker and counsellor with over seven years providing counselling and life skills coaching to children and adults. I have worked with children and adults with various disabilities and mental health concerns. I have over three years providing trauma informed clinical counselling to teenagers and adults who have experienced trauma due to sexual abuse and domestic violence, as well as providing therapeutic counselling for depression, anxiety, anger, and PTSD. I have also worked with couples in order to strengthen their relationships. As a person with a vision impairment, I bring first hand experience developing and implementing accommodations for vision loss, and I have worked directly with children, adults, and their families regarding how to manage vision loss. My background and training includes Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness practice, strengths-based approaches, and music therapy.
Having a client centred approach to counselling will allow us to work together, where you are at. Feel free to contact me via phone or email and we can discuss your needs, as well as provide you with information on the online video and email service. Once we have developed rapport and you are comfortable with the online service, we will schedule your first session.
Whether you have a mental health concern, struggling with improving a relationship, attempting to cope with a disability, or searching for that perfect job, I am here to provide safe and confidential support. Every person is unique and we all have strengths that can support positive change. Whatever you are struggling with, we will work together to find your strengths and use them to assist with the healing process and achieving your goals.
Along with counselling, I also provide disability support and consulting to individuals, families, and organizations in the area of vision loss. As a person with a vision disability, I believe I can relate to others who may be coping with losing their vision. If you are coping with vision loss or you are a family member of someone with the disability and want to learn more about how to provide support, I will work with you to educate and find the right accommodations. I will also work with employers to provide education on best practices and accommodations to support visually impaired employees.
Online counselling is beneficial for multiple reasons. You can access counselling and support via video or email from the comfort of your home. If you live in the big city but struggle with mobility issues or do not have access to a vehicle, this online service may work for you. If you live in a small, rural community with no access to face-to-face counselling support, online counselling may also be the right option for you. Whatever your situation, we can work together to provide you with the best possible service.
