"The Human Spirit is stronger than anything that can happen to it." ~Unknown
I am a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) with almost a decade of experience working in a large mental health agency.  I completed my Master of Education in Counselling Psychology in 2008 at the University of Western Ontario.  While completing my education, I spent a number of years working in a mental health research office; I also volunteered for the local psychiatric hospital and the sexual assault crisis line.  The combination of these experiences has only increased my passion for the profession of psychotherapy and mental health promotion.   Humans are wired for connection. I believe that we are at our strongest when we have meaningful, supportive connections in our lives.  My way of creating these connections is by listening, empathizing, guiding, and supporting my clients in achieving their goals.  I have always been the person that people come to for comfort, compassion, and a listening ear.  The love of getting to know people and hearing the stories that are important to them has been a drive of mine for as long as I can remember.  It is always my aim to provide my clients with a connection in which they feel safe, supported and secure, in order to work toward their therapy goals.   I have an extensive background in working with children and youth of all ages, families, parents, and individual adults.  I use a number of therapeutic methods and approaches, depending on the specific needs of my clients; these include using an attachment- and trauma-based perspectives, psycho-education, and solution-focused methods.  These perspectives allow me to help my clients better understand the impact that their environments have had on them; the impact they have on world around them; and how to move forward with creating new, healthy behaviours and interactions.
