Christian counselling can support clients who want to explore mental health, relationships, identity, or life experiences while considering the role of faith and spirituality. I offer a warm, respectful, client-led space to process faith deconstruction, spiritual abuse, church hurt, religious shame, purity culture, and family or community pressure. My approach is informed by trauma recovery, attachment, family systems, CBT, and an understanding of coercive control and power dynamics. Together, we can explore what has felt meaningful, painful, confusing, or difficult to reconcile, while supporting healing, boundaries, self-trust, and personal choice.

Approaching counselling from a Christian perspective is not about relying on God to solve your problems, but rather learning how to align oneself to live and work within his created world and intentions for our happiness. Free will is an essential gift that allows us to explore this creation and find meaning and happiness that has been inspired by God. Developing a trust in God to guide and direct us in this task is an essential process in establishing faith that God will keep us safe whiling using our freewill and experience to look both ways before we cross the street.

Any spiritual conversations in my office will start with the approach you and I will agree upon. Some of my clients just want to talk to someone else about their beliefs regarding specific topics. From my perspective, openness can lead to incredible solutions to our spiritual challenges. I actively listen to peoples who come to my office for any spiritual aspect of their lives. Again I use collaborative approaches that favour sharing. And when my clients need to be listened to, sharing with them for a couple of hours can provide them the therapy they were seeking. However since everyone is different, so can their concerns/issues, therefore approaches can vary in order to adapt.

While most Christian Counselors pride themselves on how many Scriptural passages they can recite and how many links they can make from the Bible to psychological disorders, the Christian-centric work of Grey Matters International, Inc.is grounded in one principle: truth. As a Christian and spiritually focused clinician I value each individual client with their own uniqueness, values and beliefs. Angela is an experienced therapist who provides a Christian counselling perspective to explore a variety of issues that may be affecting you, your marriage or your family. Her training and experience support individuals with a wide variety of issues related to grief & loss, marital discord, family violence/conflict, depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, parent-child relationships, life transitions, addictions, anger management and self-care. I am a practising Catholic. I use a common sense approach and I respect all religions. There is no right or wrong religion. My faith has helped me many times during my lengthy career. For 14 years I was a consultant with the BC Coroner's Office and I did psychological autopsies of teens that either committed suicide or were suspected of committing suicide. Many times my faith gave me the strength to support those grieving parents in the most terrible time of their lives.

I am a Bible-believing Evangelical Christian of 40 years. Yet, I welcome people of all faiths or no faith because I am neither a priest or minister, but a counsellor here to serve you.
