I am a Christian counsellor born, raised and practicing in the Christian faith. The laws of Love taught in the Bible are as relevant today as they were when the Bible was written. Jesus left us with His example and a set of principles, to guide us through the trials that we face in our current lives. Although the form and conditions of our lives now have changed, this guidance helps us to navigate through the challenges of the current day. My practice of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) includes an openness to The Holy Spirit to guide our process. Sue Johnson's book "Created For Connection" shows how EFT can help couples repair their marital relationship in the context of Christianity.

While Pacific Coast Counselling in Abbotsford does not offer "biblical" counselling, at least one of our therapists identifies as Christian. This may also be helpful for clients who are/were Christian and wish to feel understood at a deeper level around issues of spiritual abuse, trauma, grief and loss, anger with God, purity culture, deconstruction of faith etc..

In my practice, I use a holistic approach that addresses the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of my clients' lives. Is anyone tired of traditional "Christian" Counseling? I know I came to that place in my life growing up, when I didn't just want to hear that God could heal all of my messes (even though I knew He could - if it is His will), I wanted to know that someone (hear on earth) had my best interests at hand too! However, there is still evil around us, and we certainly don't just want to put our hearts in minds into the hands of just anyone. It is important, in my opinion, to have an educated counselor that knows what he or she is doing, who also see's counseling as a partnership between him/herself (the counselor), God and the power of prayer, and of course the client.
