I am a Bible-believing Evangelical Christian of 40 years. Yet, I welcome people of all faiths or no faith because I am neither a priest or minister, but a counsellor here to serve you. I openly identify myself as a Christian, because I believe it's fair for you to know my bias. Therefore, if I am working with a Christian client, I will join you in open prayer as you request. If I am working with a non-believer, I will engage you at YOUR level of meaning and purpose. My goal is to help you break free of whatever is holding you back.

Christian counselling with me offers a space where faith and mental health come together with compassion and respect. Rooted in grace, we'll explore life's struggles through both psychological insight and spiritual truth. Whether you're navigating grief, anxiety, relationship challenges, or questions of purpose, you'll be met with care and hope. I believe that spirituality is a large component to building healthy relationships, overcoming life circumstances, and addressing big life questions. I encourage the exploration of your spirituality in the midst of your pain. My orientation is based on a Christian world view; however, I welcome clients with any religious orientation. Angela is an experienced therapist who provides a Christian counselling perspective to explore a variety of issues that may be affecting you, your marriage or your family. Her training and experience support individuals with a wide variety of issues related to grief & loss, marital discord, family violence/conflict, depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, parent-child relationships, life transitions, addictions, anger management and self-care. I am a Christian counsellor born, raised and practicing in the Christian faith. The laws of Love taught in the Bible are as relevant today as they were when the Bible was written. Jesus left us with His example and a set of principles, to guide us through the trials that we face in our current lives. Although the form and conditions of our lives now have changed, this guidance helps us to navigate through the challenges of the current day. My practice of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) includes an openness to The Holy Spirit to guide our process. Sue Johnson's book "Created For Connection" shows how EFT can help couples repair their marital relationship in the context of Christianity.

I am a practising Catholic. I use a common sense approach and I respect all religions. There is no right or wrong religion. My faith has helped me many times during my lengthy career. For 14 years I was a consultant with the BC Coroner's Office and I did psychological autopsies of teens that either committed suicide or were suspected of committing suicide. Many times my faith gave me the strength to support those grieving parents in the most terrible time of their lives.

The Christian lens I provide is based on the principles of speaking the truth in love, laying aside all masks & pretence and being congruent. By providing empathy, comfort, education, conviction, encouragement through a gentle process forged by listening and building trust, I offer a safe environment for people to release emotional pain. I can apply biblical principles to spur change in people’s hearts. This process is facilitated through personal responsibility while harnessing the brain's ability to heal whether by combining insights from social sciences, strengthening neural connections with brain training via Neurofeedback or processing barriers due to emotionally charged memories with EMDR.
