Approaching counselling from a Christian perspective is not about relying on God to solve your problems, but rather learning how to align oneself to live and work within his created world and intentions for our happiness. Free will is an essential gift that allows us to explore this creation and find meaning and happiness that has been inspired by God. Developing a trust in God to guide and direct us in this task is an essential process in establishing faith that God will keep us safe whiling using our freewill and experience to look both ways before we cross the street.

I am a practising Catholic. I use a common sense approach and I respect all religions. There is no right or wrong religion. My faith has helped me many times during my lengthy career. For 14 years I was a consultant with the BC Coroner's Office and I did psychological autopsies of teens that either committed suicide or were suspected of committing suicide. Many times my faith gave me the strength to support those grieving parents in the most terrible time of their lives.

If you are reviewing this section to check whether I am a “bona fide” Christian or simply a person who believes that all people are good, then I can assure you that I am a Christian. IF on the other hand, you are reviewing this section in fear that I may be a “bible thumper” or a fanatical lunatic, I want to assure you that it is never my intention to force anyone to “get converted”. As a Christian, it is actually impossible for me to relate to my clients in an authentic way if I deviate from my worldview. Having said that, the journey that you are inviting me on is YOURS, not mine and you will be fully in charge of where we travel, the speed of the journey as well as our final destination,

As a Christian, my practice reflects that. My formal training was at a Christian University. Not all my clients are Christian, which is fine and something I respect. However, for those clients who are Christians, I will integrate prayer, Scripture, and Biblical principles and values into my counselling. Scripture, God's truths, give a road map into life's challenges. I believe the Holy Spirit guides me and gives me wisdom as I work with my clients as well. God loves you and wants you to live a life of healing and freedom.

I have been a Christian counsellor in a church and worked Christian organisation for 8 years. I integrate faith and psychology to provide a holistic approach to healing. Is anyone tired of traditional "Christian" Counseling? I know I came to that place in my life growing up, when I didn't just want to hear that God could heal all of my messes (even though I knew He could - if it is His will), I wanted to know that someone (hear on earth) had my best interests at hand too! However, there is still evil around us, and we certainly don't just want to put our hearts in minds into the hands of just anyone. It is important, in my opinion, to have an educated counselor that knows what he or she is doing, who also see's counseling as a partnership between him/herself (the counselor), God and the power of prayer, and of course the client.
