I am a practising Catholic. I use a common sense approach and I respect all religions. There is no right or wrong religion. My faith has helped me many times during my lengthy career. For 14 years I was a consultant with the BC Coroner's Office and I did psychological autopsies of teens that either committed suicide or were suspected of committing suicide. Many times my faith gave me the strength to support those grieving parents in the most terrible time of their lives.

I offer Christian counselling that integrates the best of modern psychology with the wisdom from the Bible and Church teaching. Regardless of what denomination your from I can help you to apply the immense spiritual resources we have as Christians to aid you on your journey of mental health recovery. God sees you in your struggle and has compassion for you. Being a Christian doesn't mean always being happy. I'll create space for all your thoughts and feelings. Many churches have caused great harm to their LGBTQ members through fear and shame based ideology, rejection, and abusive practices, such as conversion therapy. So... where do we go from here? Your spiritual journey is your own. Whether you work on deconstructing or interrogating or re-imagining your faith, I am here to support you. I work from a fully LGBTQ-affirming perspective to help queer Christians integrate faith and queer identity, normalize doubt, process religious trauma, and find a sense of belonging. There's nothing wrong with you. You are whole and holy, just as you are.

Somehow when we know that Jesus is the one who is doing the healing, and we place our trust in Him, we can find peace within the journey of healing. "Come to me.....and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28). I am a counselor of Christian faith and I use healing prayer and the Bible along with cognitive and mind-body approaches in my work with Christian clients.

The Christian lens I provide is based on the principles of speaking the truth in love, laying aside all masks & pretence and being congruent. By providing empathy, comfort, education, conviction, encouragement through a gentle process forged by listening and building trust, I offer a safe environment for people to release emotional pain. I can apply biblical principles to spur change in people’s hearts. This process is facilitated through personal responsibility while harnessing the brain's ability to heal whether by combining insights from social sciences, strengthening neural connections with brain training via Neurofeedback or processing barriers due to emotionally charged memories with EMDR.

As part of my graduate training in psychology, I also completed a Masters in Theology, as well as a pastoral practicum. My psychology training also included a focus on the integration of psychology and spirituality; how they can influence and strengthen each other. However, I never seek to inject my own beliefs into therapy! Rather, I feel it is important for me to understand how your faith and beliefs are a part of your understanding of your issues and how you can draw upon them. I try to see each of my patients as whole people, and that includes their faith and beliefs.

I help clients work through the issues that prevent them from having the life that they want for themselves. Christian clients that want to work from a biblical perspective are helped by addressing the issues through the lense of their belief system. We can look up bible verses that address the topics that they are wanting to work on in the appointments.

I am a Christian Counsellor that will work to thoughtfully include your relationship with God in the healing process. I work with clients who want to grow emotionally and spiritually, within a safe and clinically grounded environment. I combine evidence-based therapeutic approaches with a Christ-centered lens, because I believe that psychological healing and spiritual formation are deeply interconnected processes. While having faith does not replace the work of processing grief, anger, or trauma, it does provide the foundation and framework for freedom and lasting change.
