Angela is an experienced therapist who provides a Christian counselling perspective to explore a variety of issues that may be affecting you, your marriage or your family. Her training and experience support individuals with a wide variety of issues related to grief & loss, marital discord, family violence/conflict, depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, parent-child relationships, life transitions, addictions, anger management and self-care. When clients specifically request our counselling sessions to have a Christian focus I am able to integrate scriptual teaching & Christian counselling research within the broader field of psychotherapy assessment & treatment. When I take a Christian approach I find that therapy works towards alleviating psychological stressors while helping people to appropriate a deeper understanding & appreciation of the grace of God.

Is anyone tired of traditional "Christian" Counseling? I know I came to that place in my life growing up, when I didn't just want to hear that God could heal all of my messes (even though I knew He could - if it is His will), I wanted to know that someone (hear on earth) had my best interests at hand too! However, there is still evil around us, and we certainly don't just want to put our hearts in minds into the hands of just anyone. It is important, in my opinion, to have an educated counselor that knows what he or she is doing, who also see's counseling as a partnership between him/herself (the counselor), God and the power of prayer, and of course the client.

I am a Christian Counsellor that will work to thoughtfully include your relationship with God in the healing process. I work with clients who want to grow emotionally and spiritually, within a safe and clinically grounded environment. I combine evidence-based therapeutic approaches with a Christ-centered lens, because I believe that psychological healing and spiritual formation are deeply interconnected processes. While having faith does not replace the work of processing grief, anger, or trauma, it does provide the foundation and framework for freedom and lasting change.

Somehow when we know that Jesus is the one who is doing the healing, and we place our trust in Him, we can find peace within the journey of healing. "Come to me.....and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28). I am a counselor of Christian faith and I use healing prayer and the Bible along with cognitive and mind-body approaches in my work with Christian clients.

As part of my graduate training in psychology, I also completed a Masters in Theology, as well as a pastoral practicum. My psychology training also included a focus on the integration of psychology and spirituality; how they can influence and strengthen each other. However, I never seek to inject my own beliefs into therapy! Rather, I feel it is important for me to understand how your faith and beliefs are a part of your understanding of your issues and how you can draw upon them. I try to see each of my patients as whole people, and that includes their faith and beliefs.

I am a Bible-believing Evangelical Christian of 40 years. Yet, I welcome people of all faiths or no faith because I am neither a priest or minister, but a counsellor here to serve you. I work from a fully LGBTQ-affirming perspective to help queer Christians integrate faith and queer identity, normalize doubt, process religious trauma, and find a sense of belonging. As a pastor and an evangelist, I have firm faith in God that I offer therapy with God’s loving kindness. As a pastoral therapist who aspires to strong principals, ethics, and Christian faith, I believe that Jesus is a key for all. Christ's Love is strong, restorative, clarifying and empowering. As we address the challenges and issues that are part of our earthly walk the love of Christ is here - present, strong and safe. I am a practising Catholic. I use a common sense approach and I respect all religions. There is no right or wrong religion. My faith has helped me many times during my lengthy career. For 14 years I was a consultant with the BC Coroner's Office and I did psychological autopsies of teens that either committed suicide or were suspected of committing suicide. Many times my faith gave me the strength to support those grieving parents in the most terrible time of their lives.
