I have been clean and sober nearly 26 years. I am familiar with 12-step approaches to treating addictions and compulsions, and sympathetic to those who find them uesful. There are, however, many who need help but cannot find it in 12 step programs. I am able to meet many of these where they are, and help them in ways they are able to use. Addiction and compulsions, like all conditions that respond to psychotherapy, are phenomena that are overcome through personal growth.

Often, an individual's relationship with substance use such as drugs alcohol or will change over time. For example, the person might’ve initially used it only once a while in a month as to get away from his/ her stress and have some pleasurable time, but very soon it become an everyday necessity for the user. Did your relationship with your substance use change from the time that you started to now? Do you still use for the same reasons, or have those reasons changed? Have you done the bad things under the influence of substances that you wouldn’t have done if you haven't consumed? Feel free to contact to learn how counseling can help you.

Addictions are hard but not hopeless. I my self battled with my own addictions. Along with education I also have understanding at a deeper level due to my personal experience. The substance that you are addicted to is not so much the issue as is the feelings, thoughts, experiences and behaviours. Processing ones story within therapy allows a person to step one foot closer to freedom and hope in a better life. It is a risk to reach out and be vulnerable. The key is to keep picking oneself back up and keep trying.I look forward to hearing your story and journeying with you as you process it.
