Christian counselling with me offers a space where faith and mental health come together with compassion and respect. Rooted in grace, we'll explore life's struggles through both psychological insight and spiritual truth. Whether you're navigating grief, anxiety, relationship challenges, or questions of purpose, you'll be met with care and hope. Together we'll seek healing, clarity and growth -- guided by faith and supported through relationship.

I was raised and educated in the church, and wherever I go, this background follows me. Maybe you're in the same boat: and the boat doesn't always sail smoothly, but it keeps you from drowning, all the same. If you need to talk to someone who understands that your decisions are formed in the context of your faith, I am here. If you need to talk about doubts or negativer feelings you have about your faith, I am here for that, too.

I help clients work through the issues that prevent them from having the life that they want for themselves. Christian clients that want to work from a biblical perspective are helped by addressing the issues through the lense of their belief system. We can look up bible verses that address the topics that they are wanting to work on in the appointments.

If your Christian faith is an important part of your life, then it is likely to play a significant role in your personal growth or healing. I believe in integrating your faith into our counselling sessions in a way that honours and respects your beliefs. Without dictating what you should believe or telling you how to live, I will help you to draw deeply from your faith for guidance and comfort in the counselling process. When clients specifically request our counselling sessions to have a Christian focus I am able to integrate scriptual teaching & Christian counselling research within the broader field of psychotherapy assessment & treatment. When I take a Christian approach I find that therapy works towards alleviating psychological stressors while helping people to appropriate a deeper understanding & appreciation of the grace of God.

For every client that I see, I always offer an individualized and tailored approach by draw from a variety of therapeutic approaches in order to enable your mental health healing and functional recovery. Using a collaborative and client centered approach, I will walk alongside you and together, we will explore solutions to overcome life's obstacles.

My experience in the Christian church provides me the context to which I can witness, understand and reflect your experiences, questions and concerns related to organized religion. Whether you are considering deconstruction, wanting to make a leap of faith into something new for you, or if you are simply wanting to explore your next steps in regards to faith, I am here to support your journey. 44 years in the Christian world has offered me the context to know what you are experiencing in your faith journey. Without judgement, I will explore your faith questions and journey with you to wherever that leads.

The Christian lens I provide is based on the principles of speaking the truth in love, laying aside all masks & pretence and being congruent. By providing empathy, comfort, education, conviction, encouragement through a gentle process forged by listening and building trust, I offer a safe environment for people to release emotional pain. I can apply biblical principles to spur change in people’s hearts. This process is facilitated through personal responsibility while harnessing the brain's ability to heal whether by combining insights from social sciences, strengthening neural connections with brain training via Neurofeedback or processing barriers due to emotionally charged memories with EMDR.

I offer Christian counselling that integrates the best of modern psychology with the wisdom from the Bible and Church teaching. Regardless of what denomination your from I can help you to apply the immense spiritual resources we have as Christians to aid you on your journey of mental health recovery. God sees you in your struggle and has compassion for you. Being a Christian doesn't mean always being happy. I'll create space for all your thoughts and feelings. If you feel hurt by the Church or distant from God I can help you explore these emotions in a safe non-judgmental environment. I'd be honoured to travel with you on your journey.

As part of my graduate training in psychology, I also completed a Masters in Theology, as well as a pastoral practicum. My psychology training also included a focus on the integration of psychology and spirituality; how they can influence and strengthen each other. However, I never seek to inject my own beliefs into therapy! Rather, I feel it is important for me to understand how your faith and beliefs are a part of your understanding of your issues and how you can draw upon them. I try to see each of my patients as whole people, and that includes their faith and beliefs.

Is anyone tired of traditional "Christian" Counseling? I know I came to that place in my life growing up, when I didn't just want to hear that God could heal all of my messes (even though I knew He could - if it is His will), I wanted to know that someone (hear on earth) had my best interests at hand too! However, there is still evil around us, and we certainly don't just want to put our hearts in minds into the hands of just anyone. It is important, in my opinion, to have an educated counselor that knows what he or she is doing, who also see's counseling as a partnership between him/herself (the counselor), God and the power of prayer, and of course the client.
