When you mourn the loss of someone or something you love, it can feel like you will never feel at peace again. Whether it is sudden or slowly happened, it is still heartbreaking. These feelings show how much you really did care and what a big part of your life they were. A part of moving through grief is making space for these feelings and slowly adjusting to a new way of living. You don't have to move through this process alone.

When people come for grief counselling, often there is a memory or image that is haunting them, or coming as a "flashback", and which is hard for them to let go. The work I do, using EMDR therapy helps to put such memories to rest. This does not mean that you will forget what has happened, or stop loving the person who is gone, only that it will not longer have that constant sharp-edge, ever present feel. Some clients need a few counselling sessions to ease the pain, though I've had clients who healed decades-old grief from loss of a parent in childhood, in one or two sessions. They were then able to live their lives more fully.

The death of a loved one can be the most challenging life event we go through. But death is a life stage we all will go through and the life we have led will impact the ones we leave behind. In my 16 years of counselling clients, I have been able to help clients discover the unique gifts and lessons of the one who has died. Learn how you can use these lessons and gifts to manage your grief in a more manageable way. The feelings and thoughts can be scary, uncertain and confusing to deal with, but you can get through the tough times. You have a unique way of grieving and that is okay. Let me help you find your way. Call me now to see what my services can offer you.

Grief is individual and comes in unexpected waves. I have yet to hear of two similar grief experiences. Walking alongside someone who is grieving has deeply touched me in my work. Grief can be a heart wrenching, and painfully beautiful experience when shared with a trusted, safe other. The path towards healing and wholeness is as unique as the stories of grief themselves, but you do not have to do the work of healing alone, in the dark.

All humans experience grief and loss at one time in their lives. I work with clients to help them accept the loss that has occurred in their lives. Once acceptance has been achieved I work with the clients to help them remember with a new perspective. Emotions play a large part in how humans work through difficult times. I help them connect to these emotions using mind/body connection process. My clients have been able to move on and live their life instead of existing within pain.

Unfortunately, grief is an unavoidable part of life. Everyone will lose someone they love at some point in their life. Managing a loss can be difficult and the world can feel like it's flipper over. Grief is a powerful emotional response to a loss that we have had and is not limited to the loss of losing someone. I help guide my clients in a non-judgemental way in helping to process their emotions attached to the grief that they are experiencing along with processing the event of the grief. I will listen to my clients in a supportive manner, sensitively and caringly help individuals to grieve their losses in their own unique ways and go over rituals which may help despite their grief.

Unfortunately, loss seems to be part of life. Suffering loss can be a very painful experience. Friends and family can be supportive but sometimes it is hard for them to maintain the objective approach really needed because they are dealing with the grief in their own way. Often people find it more helpful to grieve loss in a private place with professional help. My services help you do just that. I am compassionate and understanding.

Loss can break, alienate, initiate, and open. It can lead to oceans of feelings looming over us, a sense of being distanced from oneself and others—far away adrift at sea, rage at the injustice of loss, and even shame at experiencing rage. I can't predict what the waves may be like for you, but I can help you respond to them. Whether your instinct is to hold, brace, jump, dive, run, scream, float, or let the waves wash over you, together we can feel out what to do and what to make of it all.

Grieving after a loss is very personal. It can be messy and mysterious. It is a process. Some may say it is the cost one pays for love. You will be encouraged to tell the story of your loss and how it has affected your life, identify and express various feelings, and learn the various stages of grief. You will know that whatever you are experiencing is normal. Through the process, you will begin to recall happy moments and may develop[ and enact acts of repentance and implement acts of spiritual faith as a source of comfort and hope.

Even though we would want to tell the client that grief and loss is a neat process of 5 - 7 stages (denial, anger... acceptance), it is usually experienced as a roller coaster of emotions and it takes a different amount of time for every individual. What I do is to help clients embrace and express different levels of pain: 1) talking about emotional experience, without showing the emotion; 2) talking with emotional reactions (tears coming, trembling voice); 3) silent crying; 4) sobbing and 5) loud crying and screaming. Finally, we should not forget that moderate denial is natural (like a temporary break from grief). And yes, grief can shake our faith, but it usually leads to acceptance.

I believe that having a safe and comfortable place to express your grief can help anyone who is grieving a loss. Allowing yourself to feel your emotions is very important. The most important part of supporting a bereaved person is to acknowledge your feeling and to be with you. As time passes, the pain of early bereavement begins to fade. The depression lessens and you can begin to look forward to the future. I help you envision and map out a positive future while keeping your loved one 's spirit in your life.
