A Biblical base simply means that the therapist believes that all human beings were created in the image of God, intended for relationship and designed with the capacity for growth and change. Due to various challenges that I experienced as a child I often felt I had the weight of the world on my shoulder. Therefore as a teenager and most of my childhood I suffered with depression. My experiences however also revealed my life’s purpose and incited the desire to support others ex-periencing their own challenges. For many of us faith is not just important it is critical. As a professional therapist, I work with all kinds of faiths, with respect and honor. However I do identify and enjoy working within the context of Christianity. Over the last twenty-five years I have worked closely with believers, congregations, denominations and their leaders through individual, marriage and family issues but also issues of faith. Some times we struggle with our faith and it becomes more of a stumbling block. Other times it becomes our anchor. Having Christ as the center of history and ones life allows for resources that significantly bolster therapy.

As a Christian therapist, I feel it always important to work with my client’s faith and value system. Since I am counseling as a person with Christian beliefs, it is not my plan to impose my values on my clients, but to help them in their journey. Since I am a Christian, my frame of reference would be led by the spirit of God. It is my hope to guide individuals towards a stronger relationship with God and with others.
