I have many years of experience in counselling particularly in the areas of crisis counselling, addictions, interpersonal violence and mental health.
I have extensive training in the following modalities:
* Comprehensive Behavior Intervention for Tics (CBIT)
CBIT is an evidence based non medication therapy to empower a person with a diagnosis with Tics or Tourette’s to manage their tics and improve their lives. There are several components to the therapy including psycho education, habit reversal, self awareness and relaxation/mindfulness training.
* Edu therapy
Edu therapy is grief resolution model that helps those who have experienced trauma and loss, to deal with the intense and often conflicting emotions that arise when working through these life events.
Hypnosis is a state of highly focused attention whereby heightened suggestibility is possible with the desired positive outcome of reduction of such difficulties as stress, pain, anxiety and fear. The para sympathetic nervous system is accessed in hypnosis which is our natural healing state.
According to the Reflexology Association of Canada, reflexology therapies are natural therapeutic methods based on the principle that there are reflexes in the body that correspond to elements, glands and organs in the body. Through applying pressure on the reflexes, tension can be reduced, circulation and body functions can be improved.
* Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) /Reality Therapy (RT)
CBT and RT are counselling approaches that help a person focus on becoming more aware of and identifying thoughts and behaviors to change one’s present circumstances.
