I have been in private practice as a counsellor and
psychotherapist for over 20 years. During that time I have had the privilege of
being able to connect with people and help them achieve their personal goals,
create more fulfilling lives, and appreciate their own unique value.
Through my years of helping people through difficult times,
I have come to understand how we can sometimes get trapped in unhealthy
patterns of thought and behavior. This can leave us with depression, anxiety,
low self esteem, relationship problems, unhealthy coping mechanisms, or a
feeling of general dissatisfaction and lack of meaning. Trying to undo these patterns on our
own can be frustrating and overwhelming.
You may find yourself struggling with depression, anxiety,
loss, illness, work problems, relationship difficulties, problems with
parenting children or caring for other dependents. If so, a skilled and
compassionate counsellor can be of benefit by supporting you in cultivating
kindness to yourself, and helping you to develop healthy patterns of thought
and behavior.
I use a variety of therapeutic approaches geared to suit
your particular needs and personality. For instance, I may suggest you explore
past relationships, or help you to bring mindful attention to your thoughts and
feelings in order to bring about personal transformation. When appropriate, I
may share information, insights, or my own experiences with you.
I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor, Registered Social Worker and have a Masters Degree in
Social Work. I have been the
Coordinator for a Women’s Shelter and for the Adolescent Program in a Mental
Health Clinic. I bring to the therapeutic encounter an understanding that
positive change is possible and I have profound respect for the courage and
strength each of us has to initiate growth and transformation.
