Anger and violence are wildly misunderstood issues. I believe that it is important to explore the context in which the anger or violence occurs. For example, does it happen at home, or at work, or in public? Who is impacted by the anger or violence? How do the individuals who are impacted resist and respond to the anger/violence? Through counselling we will explore the context of the interactions. Once we understand the context (who is doing what to who?) I will respectfully invite responsibility taking and strategies for more helpful communication and responses.

Anger is an emotion that can dominate how we automatically react to situations and frustrations when it feels we are not in control. Sometimes anger is overwhelming for the person feeling the anger and for the others around them and can negatively impact relationships and life goals. I explore with clients the root of the anger and then collaboratively develop strategies and alternative intentional approaches to improve effective emotional processing.

It sucks to be angry and loose control of our emotions. Anger can have a devastating impact on the people we love the most. I will support you in addressing the emotions, trauma and pain underneath anger and learn to identify your triggers and patterns. I will teach you tools to address your stress and help you learn to better deal with your emotions. Learning to communicate our needs in a way that will be received is also a part of how I address anger issues.

Anger is a normal and healthy emotion that needs to occur in a controlled manner. Yes, we all get mad but it is the action and words that need special attention. When it gets out of control and turns destructive, it can lead to problems. These problems occur at work, in your personal relationships, and in the overall quality of your life. I will help you create strategies and goals to mange your anger.

In anger management, we start with your story: understanding your concerns, what triggers your anger, and how it's impacting you and your loved ones. Often anger affects relationships, work, or your wellbeing in ways that feel out of control. Together we'll build awareness about the patterns and underlying emotions driving your anger. Sometimes it masks hurt, frustration, or feeling unheard. Then we work on practical strategies: recognizing early warning signs, reframing triggering situations, and developing healthier ways to express feelings. Our therapeutic relationship provides the foundation where you bring knowledge of yourself and I bring clinical perspective. You'll learn to respond rather than react, communicate more effectively, and regain control of your emotions.

When anger gets the best of us, we can say and/or do things that we later wish we could change or take back. Anger is an instinctive universal emotion, one in which we all have, but not all expressions of anger have to be hurt. In fact, anger works as a great informant and can motivate us to take action to improve our own lives and the lives of people that we care about.

#32 - 750 Fortune Drive, Kamloops, British Columbia V2B 2L2 | 778-694-1001

My approach to Anger Management Counseling focuses on helping clients understand the roots of their anger, identify personal triggers, and develop healthier ways to express and manage intense emotions. I provide a supportive, judgment-free environment where clients can explore the underlying feelings—such as hurt, fear, or frustration—that often fuel anger. Through techniques like cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and communication skill-building, clients learn to respond rather than react. Over time, they gain greater self-awareness, emotional control, and the ability to handle conflict more constructively in their personal and professional lives.

Anger often stems from feeling so many emotions all at once. You lose a sense of control. You go from 0 to 100 in a blink of an eye. By getting angry you’re attempting to regain control that’s presumed lost. But instead, you’re full of guilt and shame. Feeling angry and reacting in anger, is simply exhausting. I’ll help you learn how to regain control, in a healthy way.

I have worked with all different populations in regards to managing anger and can be flexible in terms of adjusting to individual goals and desired outcomes.

“Speak when you are angry and you will make the best speech you will ever regret.” Ambrose Bierce Anger is often an intense emotional response that can negatively affect people’s lives. Many people struggle to manage and express their anger effectively due to often intense and overwhelming feelings. Families, work, friendships and one’s personal well-being can be destroyed unintentionally along the way. Although we cannot control anger provoking situations, we can learn step by step techniques for successfully and efficiently managing them. Through counselling we will work to access the issues provoking anger and outbursts, and develop tools to identify and effectively manage emotional triggers.
