Relationship in crisis? Stuck in patterns that you can't shake? Not sure how to move forward in your life? I offer perspective which you may not have right now, with many years of training and experience working with individuals and couples. My clients describe me as calm, helpful, easy to talk to, and most of all that they feel understood. Counselling and therapy with me is based upon a relationship of trust and respect. You will set the pace, and I will help you to increase your understanding and perspective on the issues of concern. From there we will work on building your own personal resources to address, respond to, make choices about, and deal with those issues.

I see individuals as well as couples, and offer help in the following areas:

  • relationship issues
  • separation and divorce
  • loss and grief
  • depression and anxiety
  • other challenges with mood and emotions
  • crisis and life transitions
  • difficulties with other relationships (family, friends, colleagues)
  • personal development
  • managing chronic health challenges.

Why would you choose me? Some benefits of working with me are my experience, maturity and openness. Other benefits are that I accept you, no matter what troubles you find yourself in, and that you deserve a therapist who appreciates what makes you unique. I'm interested and curious about your goals, your experience and your challenges. Call me at 403-874-7690 or send me a message at brenda.duncan@shaw.ca . I'm happy to answer your questions and if it feels right for you, we can book a session.

I am a Clinical Social Worker, which means that my training and experience are grounded in an appreciation of the individual within his/her environment (family of origin, current and past relationships, friendships, community and society). I have worked within the mental health, crisis response, and employee and family assistance fields, for over 30 years.

While I have training in various therapeutic approaches, my style is eclectic, in response to your needs and priorities. We may meet once, several times, often or occasionally, depending on what works best for you. Your confidentiality, values and choices will always be respected.

I am registered by my professional association (Alberta College of Social Workers), on both the Clinical Practice Registry and the Private Practice Roster, and further authorized under the Health Professions Act to provide psychosocial intervention. Briefly, what this means is that I am bound, both personally and professionally, to a comprehensive Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
