I am a Christian counsellor born, raised and practicing in the Christian faith. The laws of Love taught in the Bible are as relevant today as they were when the Bible was written. Jesus left us with His example and a set of principles, to guide us through the trials that we face in our current lives. Although the form and conditions of our lives now have changed, this guidance helps us to navigate through the challenges of the current day. My practice of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) includes an openness to The Holy Spirit to guide our process. Sue Johnson's book "Created For Connection" shows how EFT can help couples repair their marital relationship in the context of Christianity.

I offer a spiritual perspective for clients who have specific belief structures. I work within the framework that you believe in and help you heal in conjunction with your spiritual and religious beliefs. I have found that encouraging my clients to follow their spiritual or religious path has helped them reaffirm their commitment to having a happy and rewarding life by connecting to the Divine Presence in their lives.

I am a practising Catholic. I use a common sense approach and I respect all religions. There is no right or wrong religion. My faith has helped me many times during my lengthy career. For 14 years I was a consultant with the BC Coroner's Office and I did psychological autopsies of teens that either committed suicide or were suspected of committing suicide. Many times my faith gave me the strength to support those grieving parents in the most terrible time of their lives.

I am pleased to offer my Christian clients, counselling from a Christian perspective. For some people it is important to know that their counsellor understands both their spirituality and their values and ethics from their Christian perspective. I understand and practice a Christian way of life so if my clients so choose I can help them navigate their life through a Christian lens. Although not Biblically based counselling this means taking into consideration Christian values and doctrine to help clients move in a manner congruent with their beliefs.

If your Christian faith is an important part of your life, then it is likely to play a significant role in your personal growth or healing. I believe in integrating your faith into our counselling sessions in a way that honours and respects your beliefs. Without dictating what you should believe or telling you how to live, I will help you to draw deeply from your faith for guidance and comfort in the counselling process. Angela is an experienced therapist who provides a Christian counselling perspective to explore a variety of issues that may be affecting you, your marriage or your family. Her training and experience support individuals with a wide variety of issues related to grief & loss, marital discord, family violence/conflict, depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, parent-child relationships, life transitions, addictions, anger management and self-care. In my practice, I use a holistic approach that addresses the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of my clients' lives. I see each client as having inherent dignity and worth and this shapes my approach in every way. My hope is that each of my clients can show up as they are, being free to explore thoughts and feelings, connect with their faith/spirituality, and develop the skills necessary to live a more fulfilling life.
