Accepting New Clients!

My name is Melissa Miles and I am a Registered Psychotherapist, licensed by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. I specialize in a highly efficient, scientifically based approach called Intensive Short-Term Psychodynamic Therapy (ISTDP). I am passionate about helping people find a place of mental wellness!

If you are looking to connect with yourself more deeply and feel calm and confident in the decisions you make in your life, then I can help. My approach is targeted at helping people who have been resistant to many other forms of treatment. It is comprehensive and efficient, with long-lasting results often achieved much faster than traditional forms of therapy. Most clients will experience a reduction in symptoms and an increased ability to find and maintain healthy relationships.

ISTDP is effective where most therapies are not, especially in cases of:
  • Treatment resistant depression and/or anxiety
  • Frequent panic attacks
  • High levels of social anxiety
  • Emotional dysregulation and mood disorders
  • Physical symptoms which result in problems functioning (eg. pain, headaches, fatigue, digestion problems, etc).
  • Medically unexplained symptoms

Visit my blog post for more information and research on ISTDP.

Our work together will aim to resolve the core of the problem you are experiencing in order to provide lasting relief. If you are internally motivated to make real and substantial change in your life, I can provide a safe, collaborative, and non-judgmental space where you can feel supported and understood. In our initial meeting we often explore your experience, paying particular attention to aspects you find challenging. Based on this conversation, we will identify goals that we will use to focus our time together. By the end of this first meeting, you will have a good understanding of the therapeutic process and clarity on the goals you want to work towards. Following sessions are usually once a week and target internal processes that act as a barrier to reaching your goal. You will come to know yourself deeply and understand why you think and feel the way you do. From here, change become an available option.

Overcoming the struggles you are facing is often difficult to do on your own, even with the support of family and friends. However, partnering with someone who is skilled and experienced working with mental health can make all the difference. Feel free to reach out for a free 15-minute consultation. I look forward to hearing from you!
