About Oriana
I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), Registered Marriage and Family Therapist (RMFT), and hold a Master of Science degree from the University of Guelph with a specialization in Couple and Family Therapy.  I am dedicated to helping people reclaim their lives and relationships from the problems that are most constraining and have experience in various clinical settings including: individual, couple, and family therapy, children’s mental health, crisis counselling, and peer (sexual health and youth) counselling.
I am deeply passionate and committed to working with individuals, couples, and families in therapy, and attribute my ever-growing interest in this field to a genuine curiosity about and care for others. I continue to feel very honoured by the people I work with who invite me into their lives for a period of time. As a result, I hold client stories, conversations, and the relationships built with much delicacy, admiration, and respect.
In addition to my passion for creating helpful therapeutic conversations and relationships with others, my interests span a love for wildlife, handmade arts and crafts, and social/cultural documentaries.
I draw upon a number of therapeutic approaches that are uniquely adapted to you and our conversations. These include:
  • Collaborative/Dialogic Therapy
  • Narrative Therapy
  • Solution-Focused Therapy
  • Emotionally-Focused Therapy
  • Creative-Expression Therapies (e.g., drawing, play, writing)
Most consistent in my work is the adoption of a conversational, collaborative approach that honours the knowledge of those with whom I consult. My skills lie in gently and respectfully engaging the people I work with in conversation about issues affecting their lives and relationships.  I view my role as a co-explorer where together, as conversational partners, we examine, wonder, question, and reflect on the issues at hand. Through these conversations, problems begin to "loosen", enabling for greater clarity, deeper awareness, new understandings, possibilities, next steps, and resolutions. In other words, through the process of exploratory conversations, you may notice opportunities to take action and set your life and relationships in the direction you prefer.
I have been described by those with whom I work as being gentle, warm, patient, understanding, and easy to talk with. I am committed to adopting a open, non-judgmental stance in order to create a safe and comfortable space for expression and exploration. Those with whom I work have commented on my style being "refreshing", respectful, supportive, and highly collaborative.

I greatly value uniqueness and difference. While I work with diagnoses, I also wish to learn about people beyond any diagnosis they may have received.  I consider myself to be sensitive to issues of power and experiences of oppression, and I am committed providing services that are respectful and supportive of diversity, including: differences in gender, sexual orientation, age, ability, education, race/ethnicity, national origin, culture, and religion.
In working with individuals, couples, and families in therapy I assist with a variety of concern including:
  • experiences of loss/grief
  • chronic physical illness and disease
  • relationship ruptures and conflict
  • life transitions
  • distressing or confusing aspects of one's identity
  • symptoms of anxiety and depression
  • feelings of "stuckness", boredom, exhaustion, and isolation

I have specialized experience and skill in working with children and adolescents in therapy, as well as a keen interest in incorporating various creative-expression activities (e.g., drawing) into the therapy work with people of all ages, to complement and enhance the therapy conversations.
I offer sessions on Wednesdays and Thursdays only between 10:30am and 4:30pm, and am able to meet at the frequency that makes most sense to you (weekly, biweekly, monthly).
It would be an honour to walk alongside you through a difficult time in your life and to assist you in your journey towards clarity, growth, and healing. Please feel free to call or email me for a complimentary phone consultation and to ask any questions you might have about my approach and what to expect in a first session together. I am happy to respond to your inquiries.
I hope to hear from you soon,
