I am a Clinical Psychologist registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. I received my clinical psychology training from the University of Regina and the University of Manitoba. For several years I have been working with adults suffering with unmanageable anxiety, stress, depression, and difficulty coping with life changes. I have helped people to cope and overcome problems with obsessions, compulsions, intense fears, traumatic experiences, and low self-esteem. I have treated various disorders including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), health anxiety, panic attacks and panic disorder, phobias, and adjustment disorders.
I treat problems primarily by using Cognitive-Behavior Therapy (CBT) that is tailored to a client’s individual needs, abilities, and preferences. I work as a co-investigator of a client’s unique problems to help uncover their hidden strengths and abilities to reduce symptoms and manage problems. In therapy, I help clients to identify unhelpful thinking patterns that trigger depressed and anxious thoughts, teach clients about the impact thinking patterns can have on mood and behavior, and help clients to replace unhelpful thoughts and behaviors with those that are beneficial and adaptive. Clients find that changing the way they think reduces unpleasant symptoms and greatly improves mood. I can also provide mindfulness training, relaxation training, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Core Belief/Schema therapy to address long-term personality problems. The treatments used are effective and supported by scientific research evidence.
Once you take the first step and come to a therapy session, you will be on your way to improving the way you feel and the direction your life will take. This is a choice you can make to change the way you feel and the way you go through life. Many people around the world have benefited from the warm support of a psychologist and the therapeutic skills that you can learn in therapy. When you come into a session you are the expert about your life and I can provide service as an expert in psychotherapy. We will work together to identify what you would like to change in your life in terms of emotions, thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. We can make these changes your goals! Each session you will have input about what we work on and I will make sure that therapy stays on track towards achieving your goals. Being able to freely talk to someone in a non-judgmental and safe environment will be freeing in itself and the changes you experience can benefit you for the rest of your life!
