Dr. Debbie Grove is a Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists and devoted member of the Canadian Psychological Association, the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association, and the Psychologists’ Association of Alberta. She is committed to staying connected to the latest practice approaches, news, and research so that she can provide the best possible service to her clients.

 

Background:   Dr. Grove completed her Ph.D. at the University of Calgary, Division of Applied Psychology. During her doctoral studies, she extensively researched midlife depression and brings a wealth of knowledge and clinical experience in issues related to midlife and depression including: occupational stress, burnout, anxiety, relationships, loss, grief, regrets, health issues, loss of identity, life-work imbalance and stress, pain management, healing from the effects of adversity and trauma during childhood and adolescence, considering a job/career change during midlife, returning to school at midlife, and coping with transitions such as divorce, financial difficulties, leaving country of origin, and job loss.

Dr. Grove has provided individual and group therapy, counselling, and assessment in various settings including community mental health agencies, employee assistance programs, college and university campuses, and federal government programs. She embraces diversity and feels honoured to have worked with such a broad range of clients over the past 10 years.

 

Therapy Approach:  Dr. Grove describes her approach to working with clients as collaborative, supportive, client-focused, and caring. At the heart of her therapy is the belief that therapy is a partnership for change, improved well-being, and enhanced quality of living. She believes that since the process of change is different and unique for everyone, therapy needs to be individually customized for each client.
