The Agency was founded by Roger and Diane Moyer in 1978. Over the nearly 40 years of practice in the Ottawa area, CCO stands as a pioneer in the provision of psychotherapeutic services in the region. Many psychotherapeutic therapists currently practicing within the region can trace links to CCO either because they did placements with CCO or obtained their initial professional work experience as members of the CCO Team.
Roger and Diane’s vision was to build a professional ministry that would stand in the gap between professional psychotherapy services offered in a secular context, and the ministry limitations of local churches. Over the years, the need for professional counselling services integrating the uniqueness of the Christian community became ever more apparent, and the scope of the ministry far exceeded the original vision. Services include individual, couple and family sessions, group sessions, workshops and community education seminars and consultation services for clergy and other Christian ministry leaders.
Our services are available to all members of the community regardless of faith. Our psychotherapists are committed to integrating faith and professional therapy in accordance with their clients’ personal expressions of faith. Many of our clients are Christians, and we are seeing a growing number of clients who claim faiths other than Christianity or who claim no faith at all.
Over time, our therapists have seen lives restored and faith renewed. Current and former clients report that their sessions with a CCO psychotherapist saved their marriages, their lives, or their faith. These observations are indicators that our ministry and services have met and continue to meet needs in the community.
