I graduated from the University of Oslo, Norway as a Clinical Psychologist in 1995.  Over the past 22 years I have had many wonderful experiences with my clinical work.  My interest span from therapy, to research, to public presentations, workshops and to building my own practice from the ground up.  I truly enjoy the field of human relations,  and believe that psychological treatments are highly effective in treating serious conditions via evidence-based interventions, through correct diagnosis and careful treatment plans.

My interest in psychology was sparked at a very early age due to a rich cultural tapestry and exposure to many different peoples, religions and food traditions. I grew up in Norway, lived there for 35 years, and studied both at the University of Bergen and University of Oslo.

Raised as a global citizen, I speak 4 languages fluently, Norwegian, English, Katchi and Gujerati.  My greatest pride and joy are my two children: a daughter (24) and a son (19), and it has been the greatest privilege to be their mom. When your kids turn out better then you ~ you may have done quite well.

I have travelled extensively through Europe, India, East Africa, and Canada with my family. We then chose to make Canada our permanent home, and have now been here over a decade.

My therapeutic style is very personal and genuine, but non-confrontational and civil. I very much enjoy connecting with people from all walks of life and find people's stories mesmerizing.  It is with the deepest respect that I enter into therapeutic relationships ~ and sometimes learn as much from my patients as they learn from me. And what we create together is sometimes bigger then all of us. Sometimes, therapy feels like an intense energy that heals deep wounds.

So, welcome to your counselling journey and we will do our very best to take great care of you!

Helping individuals find more constructive and satisfying ways to deal with life’s challenges has been the driving force behind my career in psychology. I received my Masters in Counseling Psychology from Yorkville University and use a Cognitive Behavioral Approach in my practice.

Everyday challenges and past experiences shape us as individuals. We do not have the power to undo the past but we do have the power to change how we respond to it. Letting go of negative and self-defeating thoughts and behaviours enable us to heal and move on with our lives. Issues of childhood abandonment, neglect and trauma can unfortunately cause us to react to life in unhealthy ways.
We can feel overwhelmed and not know where to turn at times and making the move to enter therapy is often scary. Through compassionate support and guidance, and a collaborative, non-judgmental therapeutic relationship, I can help you break old patterns that keep you from experiencing happiness in your life. I can help you recognise your own unique strengths and abilities, which will enable you to successfully address life’s challenges so that you can live a healthier and happier life.

My husband and I love to entertain, and cooking is a passion of mine. We are very involved in our community and have worked with a number of not-for-profit organizations over the years. Working part-time allows me to spend time with my brother who has an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI).

I am a provisionally Registered Psychologist, and licensed to practice with the College of Alberta Psychologists. I obtained my Masters degree from the Trinity Western University, BC.

I take on a holistic approach to therapy beginning with the client’s presenting concerns and encouraging one to explore and uncover hidden strengths and capabilities to be applied to present and future goals. I look forward to supporting individuals in achieving their goals in a hopeful and positive therapeutic environment.
