I work from an Emotionally Focused Therapy lens (EFT). In EFT, we explore what’s happening underneath the surface — the emotions, fears, and needs that often drive how we react or withdraw in moments of distress. By understanding these deeper experiences, you can begin to: recognize emotional patterns, make sense of your reactions, build emotional safety, and develop healthier patterns of communication While traditional talk therapy can be beneficial, it is not without its limitations. Being vulnerable with another human being can be incredibly difficult. Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy is a unique and powerful way to explore personal growth and emotional healing with the help of horses.

Psychotherapy focuses on your relationship with yourself. Our most common problems have to do with inner conflict and with being unconscious of what is happening within ourselves. Through psychotherapy you will become aware of how the inner self signals the presence of these problems. Being aware of what is happening within us gives us the basis for making effective choices, relating in genuine ways to others and making positive and powerful choices in our daily lives.

Sometimes the angst we feel doesn’t have a definable problem, we just know that life feels off, and long for it to feel better. Through talking with a therapist insights into yourself, and compassion for your pain emerges. Through this process you learn to see your past and yourself differently and a new way of being in the world emerges. Old unhelpful ways of living erode and are replaced with healthier more hopeful perspectives.

Often times people have expectations with the goal of getting rid of or eliminating symptoms in regards to their mental health. However, you can have far more success when you work toward accepting and managing your symptoms as opposed to trying to get rid of them. In doing so you decrease your negative reactivity and emotional responses and are better able to manage your mental health.

I envision psychotherapy as a growth process. I know the medical model well; I just don't center my therapeutic approach on treating diseases. I treat people. Rather than diagnose-treat-cure, my model is connect-interact-become. It's a personal growth model. The willingnesss to permit a professional to facilitate your personal growth is not a disease; it's an accomplishment.

My approach is integrative, person-centred, and grounded in compassion. I believe that therapy is most effective when it’s collaborative and tailored to your unique needs, goals, and values. I draw from evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), and mindfulness-based practices. Together, we’ll explore the patterns, beliefs, and emotions that may be keeping you stuck and work to develop practical tools for change. I aim to provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you can build self-awareness, strengthen emotional resilience, and foster self-compassion.

Psychotherapy is a fancy work that simply means we are going to examine your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours to help you figure out how to do things differently in life. We are going to look most closely at the areas that are being the hardest to manage. For many people, this can show up in negative thoughts or intense feelings or concerning behaviours. We will address these areas to help you move towards the transformation that you seek.

In my work, I often draw from Jungian psychotherapy and Sandplay Therapy to support deeper healing and self-discovery. Rooted in the belief that the psyche naturally moves toward wholeness, Jungian approaches invite clients to explore the symbols, images, and unconscious patterns that shape their inner world. Through Sandplay—a gentle, nonverbal form of expression using miniature figures and a tray of sand—clients can safely give form to experiences and emotions that may be difficult to articulate. This process helps the unconscious communicate symbolically, allowing for insight, integration, and transformation. Whether with children, teens, or adults, Sandplay offers a contained, sacred spa

Do you find that certain life circumstances are out of your control? Does this bring up strong negative emotions? Sometimes, we react like a child or a teenager, other times, like a mature adult. What is it within us that brings up these varied responses? Why is it that we at times feel stuck and helpless to bring about any changes? Together, in the process of psychotherapy, we can explore these questions and more, within a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space.

Psychotherapy usually means longer more in depth treatment of issues. There is a an understanding that there is value in seeing a therapist on a regular basis as it give time for trust to develop and also allows the client the time to explore more deeply. It is also a recognition that somethings take longer to treat. One can meet weekly or bi-weekly or however frequently is appropriate. The practice of psychotherapy takes more skill and experience and usually means the therapist has had their own psychotherapy.

Want to build new ideas, clarify difficulties with emotions, motives, and interactions with others that lead to confusion? Rebuilding confidence and trust in yourself is crucial for change to be achieved. Our lives and our pathways are not written in stone. When we tell our stories in ways that can make us stronger, we can discover - we are not the problem - the problem is the problem. When we separate ourselves from the problem we can begin to revise our relationships with problems and gain new insight into different ways we can live our lives. I can help you rewrite what you tell about yourself and discover new ways to reclaim your past and re-envision your future.

What Is Accelerated Resolution Therapy? Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is a relatively new form of therapy with roots in existing evidence-based therapies but shown to achieve benefits much more rapidly (usually within 3-5 sessions). ART is a combination of bilateral stimulation, prolonged exposure and visualizations. ART looks at processing negative psychological symptoms within the body and the brain. ART has shown to offer improvements to clients’ symptoms within 1 or 2 sessions. While initially a trauma therapy, ART appears to be beneficial for several psychological concerns. More detailed information on this approach can be found here.

Psychotherapy is a broad term to refer to counselling or talk therapy approaches to address any area of pain in our lives. Psychotherapy can include focusing on a specific stressor, like workplace issues or coping with loss, dealing with specific relationships such as couples counselling or learning how to set boundaries with your family of origin, or focus more on enhancing your life if things are feeling not quite right. You can expect to have conversations that include learning new skills and strategies, opportunity to try new skills in the session, and action items to practice in between sessions to support you towards your goals.

Psychotherapy includes a more long-term exploration into one's inner functioning, in order to make lasting change. While doing psychotherapy, I assist my clients to look into their inner life, which often includes looking back at family of origin issues or past relationships to learn how one has become who they are today, and then identifying areas where they would like to see change. We then work to shift these patterns of being to create a more fulfilling, peaceful life, with healthier choices.
